How to detect 2nd monitor - when connected or not?

I'd like to trigger Macros when a 2nd monitor is turned on (connected), or off (disconnected). Currently it does not register in EGs log. The OSD Plugin seems to detect the 2nd monitor when it is connected, not sure?

Is there any easy and reliable way to do this?

A plugin specifically for this would be great.
