How to install

Post by EZorb »

EventGhost 0.4.1.r1540

I have downloaded and unzip the above file. How do you install it? I don't find a setup or install file. What am I missing here?

I have BeyondTV on Win7-x64 with U-Verse and 2 STB. These boxes will go to sleep after being on for about 8 hours. I want EventGhost to send a OK/ENTER code at a given time so the boxes will stay awake using USB-UIRT.

Well if you downloaded it from here (Downloads tab at the top) it should have been a .exe setup file. If you downloaded from somewhere else redownload and it should work.

Edit: Maybe you downloaded the "EventGhost 0.4.1.r1540_Source.zip" then redownload the non source at the top.

I guess that is what I did. Your link has the setup file.

Before I waste time I guess I will be able to set this software to send an OK code to USB_UIRT to keep STB awake.

Thanks,

As far as I know USB_UIRT is fully supported (I have no firsthand knowledge) and there are timing based actions/plugins so I think you should be able to do what you want. But I have not done anything like that.

Sure, this is no problem, provided you have the remote for the STB (for learning USB-UIRT the required command), or otherwise you need to find the required command, e.g. from http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/forums/search.cgi

Edit: also make sure that, if you are going to use an IR extender cable connected to your USB-UIRT, it stays a good distance away from strong electromagnetic fields (e.g. around amplifiers), otherwise you will experience periodic freezes from the USB-UIRT eventghost plugin!

Were you able to get this to work? Not the install but a way to send a wakeup via EG.
