Login using EG and Remote? + remote problems

Post by zootoxin »

Hi All,

I've got EventGhost working fairly well on my PC but I have a couple of problems.

1. I can't use my remote (cyberlink) at the login screen my password is a number so I would like to be able to use the numpad on the remote to login.
*I need a password so I can browse the PC over my network.

2. Sometimes (well alot of the time) the buttons in the top section of the remote stop working and don't register in the log either. I am talking about the SAP INFO LAST CHANNEL DVD MENU button section.
I can not fathom out why this is happening.

Thanks

What system do you use? If you use XP, then try start -> run -> cmd ->"control userpasswords2" (without quotes). I did not tried this with Vista or 7.
This will give you ability to login with password, without having to enter it each time.

When buttons of your IR does not working, lit with your IR into any video camera to check, is IR LED flashing? May be your IR remote just a faulty.

A couple things to note. First of course num lock. Second, you do not need a password in the main login to log onto the PC. You just need a secondary account, or enable the guest account and the network will browse just fine. So technically you can still autologin on the primary profile, and still connect to a secondary user account, or better yet share folders in the share area or term serve in.

Would num lock really stop those buttons from functioning?

I don't think the remote is faulty it worked fine with intelliremote.

What instances cause a button press to be ignored by EG?

Either you are not using the correct HID setup, or the remote is in a different mode than what EG wants. Dont know what to tell you beyond that.
