Eventghost for macosx?
Eventghost for macosx?
Hello,
I will use an Adruino in my livingroom. To connect with my computer (Apple) I found Eventghost. But that don't work on a Macosx without Windows on bootcamp.
Is there a similar program like Eventghost that will run on Macosx?
Regards,
Jurriaan, Netherlands

Re: Eventghost for macosx?
While parts of the core of EG are generic, quite a bit of the messaging infrastructure is Windows specific. There is also all of the Sound/Monitor/Registry stuff that is Windows specific. So EG will not work on Mac/Linux. I've never looked for a Mac comparable product.

Re: Eventghost for macosx?
try installing Parallels, then install Windows and Eventghost.
Haven't actually tried it myself, but it sounds like it should work.

I you accept virtualization, I would select VM Ware (Fusion in the case of Mac)

Re: Eventghost for macosx?
Eventghost is built to directly interface with the underlying system infrastucture in windows, thus it will not work in any other OS despite the fact that its in python (which does work on all OS's). Never tried it in wine though... could be interesting to see what does work.
Re: Eventghost for macosx?
well, I have Max OS X 10.7 Lion, with Parallels installed and Win7 under that. I will install Eventghost in the weekend and see how that works.

Re: Eventghost for macosx?
I┬┤m running Eventghost on a Mac mini with VmWare (Win7).
Works lika a charm.

Re: Eventghost for macosx?
Sounds promising!
That should mean that you can run eventghost on a mac mini or eqvivalent!

Re: Eventghost for macosx?
Maybe a dumb question, but just in case;
Is it possible to control lets say Plex in MacOs through eventghost running through VmWAre?

I assume plex is controlled over the network?, then I don't see why not.Spoky wrote:Is it possible to control lets say Plex in MacOs through eventghost running through VmWAre?

Re: Eventghost for macosx?
what about using it directly within the Mac OS... as using VM Ware or any other OS within makes the functions happen inside that program (not outside - or on the "Mac" itself.)
E.G., I'd like to auto lock my machine when BT is disconnected (from my mobile).
By using E.G. on the Windows partition, the commands only happen to the VM Ware OS running, not to the MAC.
Thoughts?

I think this discussion is relevant to your question "Running under Linux - without Wine".thecolor wrote:what about using it directly within the Mac OS...
