Have got a big problem that I think relates too Eventghost and TellstickDuo. Since I upgraded too Duo sometimes my devices disaperes in Tellduscenter and I can not restore them from Switch King unless I shut down Eventghost. I┬┤m not shore about it but got a feeling that its Eventgost whit pluggin that removes my devices. Been using Tellstick, Switch King and EventGhost for a long time before whitout problems.

The plugin is not removing or adding anything, it just reads data the same way as other apps are doing. It is more likely an effect that you have installed a newer Telldus Center with new dll's, entries in registry etc etc

Think it would be good if this "blocking" period was configurable.

The Nexa motion sensors, magnet sensors and even wall senders create bursts of events during up to 3 sec... at least according to the log in EG.
Sure, but I know that Telldus will make a change also on this topic to block copies on events, you find it in a thread somewhere back at Telldus forum. On the other hand, time for doing is not specified to my knowledge so it could be worth having that in the plugin as well.

Do you have a suggestion how this configuration should be? Should it be on type of devices also? Or is it enough if it is global for all events?

Made a new version with configuration option for the blocking time of repeated events. See first post.

If you have the previous version already in use, you will get an error message when you restart eg. Open the configuration of the plugin, select the delay you want (or leave the default 0.3 seconds as is) and click OK -> save. Restart eg and you should be fine.

krambriw wrote:This is very odd, partly working, it must be a version problem of some kind.

- Have you downloaded the latest plugin (note I made a change later the same day I first published it)?
- Have you tried the TS2 plugin for EG (It should work with Duo for transmissions) and do you get the same problem?
- Have you tried re-install Telldus Center?
- Have you possibility to try in another PC or in a virtual machine like VMWare?

Best regards, Walter
It works now after a re-installation of Telldus Center. I had to remove the DLL manually, reinstall, and then it worked fine.
Thanks for the support!

Ahh, I'm happy to hear!

PS How good do you think Duo is in receiving signals (how far away can you walk and still capture events from a standard remote)?

How can we expect that EventGhost can help on this!? If the underlying service, in this case Telldus Service crashes and the devices are lost, there is nothing EG can do. EG is only reading the configured devices from Telldus Service. If the list is empty, that is unfortunately nothing EG can solve.

If you check the Telldus forum, you can notice that this is a problem that other users also have. Lets hope they get it sorted out so that we get a stable and bug free (Telldus) service.

And this is not a Switch King forum. I think you would get a similar answer if you address the issue there. It is not Switch King to blame either.

It is in the Eventghost pluggin TellstickDuo that I get UNKNOWN not in Telldus or Switch King. All devices show in both of the other programs!

OK, I see

What is happening is that EG is losing contact with the devices in Telldus Service (because of the crash I suppose).
EG, or the plugin, is not storing the names of the devices, it is just storing the id's of the devices and is looking up the name in real time via the api call to Telldus Service.

It is easy to demonstrate the problem: create a device in Telldus Center, add the device and macros for on/off in EG. It should work ok now. Go to Telldus Center and delete the device. In EG it shows UNKNOWN. The link is broken. Add the device in Telldus Center again with the same name as before. Still, in EG, is UNKNOWN shown. This is because the device gets a different index in Telldus Service when it is added again (old indexes are not re-used).

Another way of doing it would be that EG plugin saves the names of the devices, and tries to find the relevant index for it instead. This would help EG to remember the names of the devices and it would eventually help to overcome the underlying problem when Telldus Service crashes. But the problem is still with Telldus Service and the problem should be solved there.

I will anyway look into the possibilities to use names instead of device id's (remember, this will require you to use unique names for devices).

OK now I understand the problem. For me it would be really nice if you change it to names instead off id. Some off my devices have multible command to be sertan that it works. Enter all off my 26 devices and then some whit repeat is no fun. I alredy use uniqe names in Switch King to be on the safe side.

OK, @Ulf, here is a pre-release version where we are using names instead. It seems to work fine here for me. When you replace the existing plugin and restart EG, you will have to go thrue all your Telldus Duo actions and select the proper name for each (the id will be displayed until you have changed it). The name of the macro should help to pick the correct name from the drop-down list. Once you have re-configured the actions, they should work.

If this helps from crashes of Telldus Service is of course hard to say. Anyway, we will preserve the names and for each name, the plugin is checking the actual id which is used for sending commands.

I have re-worked the plugin quite a bit and here is a list of all changes made:

Code: Select all

- Using device names as keys instead of device id's.
- Changed the slider for dim to show 0-100% dim level (is better I think?).
- Improved the blocking of repeated events, blocking all repeated events within the defined time frame except change events.
- Better handling if plugin is deleted and added again
Once you tested it and think it works ok, I will also put it in the first post as official release

Great Ulf,
Happy to hear, I'll wait a couple of days if you find something still not ok. If I hear nothing, I'll make this an official release and update the first post accordingly next week,

Best regards, Walter
