IR Serial remote issue

I've searched this and few other forums to find the solution to the issue I'll describe, but without any success
So maybe you will help me?
Ok, what's the matter?
I've got an IR serial (rs232) receiver. It works ok with Girder+IgorPlug and cheap universal remote as well as with harmony 525. But I'd like to use it with XBMC. So I installed Event Ghost and Winlirc, to have it done this way. Unfortunately WinLirc doesn't see any signal from both of remotes. It says, while trying to learn codes from the remote, that: "Failed to get a consistent initial signal. Please try again." I tried to sniff communication from com1 port on which IR works by serialwatcher, but can't see any signal. So how Girder can receive it while others don't?
Any idea?

Yes, configuring WinLirc can be rather tedious. Are you getting pulses when you use the "view raw codes" function in winlirc? If so then it's just a matter of having the right config file for winlirc.

The best case scenario is that there already exists a lirc .conf file for your remote (http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/). If no working config exists then you'll have to make one yourself.

If you are making your own config it's worth shutting down all other programs for the time (so that winlirc gets all the cpu time), and also turn off any fluorescent lights and devices that might interfere with the IR being received. Then you'll have the best shot at getting consistent readings in winlirc.

Anyhow, I'm sure theres lots of reading up to do on how to learn lirc/winlirc remotes which might be helpful. I think not too many people on this forum use these serial devices/winlirc, mostly people have moved on to USB-UIRT and other types of usb devices, which are more reliable and easier to set up. I think I'm one of the few that actually use this sort of setup, and for me it's working just fine.. I remember back when I made my lirc config for the remotes that I use it was a bit difficult but I havn't had to do anything about ever since I got it set up properly.

Hi Sorry for being an archeologist, but I've got exactly the same problem. Girder works just fine, but I'm not getting any signals in WinLIRC, even in raw data. Config files for my remote didn't help at all. What might be the issue?

I don't think this is the correct forum for WinLIRC support but what if you disable WinLIRC and enable EventGhost's Serial Port plugin? EventGhost should be able to get events directly from RS232. Question is if it generates events that can be useful...

Since I wanted to use EG with WinLIRC and I found this topic on EG forum, I figured this would be the right place Of course I wouldn't go through all this mess with WinLIRC if the Serial Port plugin did the job... But unfortunately it also doesn't respond in any way to the signals. The configuration looks ok, so how come Girder responds to the pilot, and EG doesn't?

your problem is in hardware!
your device maybe is made to work with igor plug and not in winlirc
igor device can work in dsr or cdc pin com port
winlirc works in cdc and rxd pin com port
check the pinout in your ir device.
