Repeat speed decreases while XBMC is running

Post by DJVege »

Hi guys,

I have setup Eventghost to work with my snapstream firefly and USB-UIRT. Works perfectly. I have set the Volume Up repeats to VERY quick because I have a direct cable into the remote port of the amplifier.

When only eventghost is running, the speed that the volume increases on the amplifier is awesome. However, when I have xbmc running and I press & hold Volume Up, the volume increases slower than normal.

Using DXVA, so the cpu usage is down around 10%.

This isn't a huge issue. I just wanted to know if there was anything I can do to tweak it to work at full speed.

HTPC System
Intel Pentium Dual Core G620/2.60GHz
Kingston 30G SSD V-Series
Corsair 2G 1333MHz DDR3
Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2-B3
Gigabyte GT430

Let me know if you need anymore info.

Thanks.

Repeated events are usually done at lowest priority and limited to avoid thrashing. So even though the CPU is not at 100%, does not mean that cycles are not being prioritized giving it a better response time. XBMC is designed to be running 100 percent of the time, there is no downtime like a lot of other apps, so its process could be prioritized. Try lowering XBMC's priority and see if that impacts it.

Sorry for the delayed response. I've been overseas.

I will try this tonight and get back to you.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Definitely makes a difference. Thanks eatmeimadanish.

Hopefully "Eden" will make a difference with its "dirty regions" and jpeg decoder features. So I won't have to bother with priority modifying.

Thanks again.
