I have the app Irule and wondering how to get the feedback funcktion work whit EventGhost?
How do I send text from EG to Irule?

you need to find out how it communicates and then match that with a plugin from EG.

Yes i know, but wondering if someone got it working.
The plugin is broadcast.

I have implemented feedback using the EG webserver. I put my feedback on a webpage and show it in a url object in iRule. Works perfectly! And works with iRule standard, no need to pay the extra 50USD for a pro licence.

Quite simple, just add the Webserver plugin and create a simple html-page that contains one or more egGlobals variables that contain your feedbacks. A refresh function in the html is necessary, see below.
In iRule, add an url-object and tie it to the EG url.
In your EG macros, just assign the feedback message to the variable and it gets displayed in iRule! I also added a timer in EG that clears the variable after 15s.

Sample html-file, adjust color, font etc to blend in to your iRule interface

In the EG macro, just add a Python command: eg.globals.feedback ="your text goes here" and that gets displayed in iRule. Obviously, it doesn't have to be static text, you could format the string to contain other variable values etc.

That should be enough to get you started, post if you need more details.

Hello Michael, I have followed your youtube video to display EventGhost feedback in Irule and it works great. Thank you for that.

I would like however to know how to assign this EventGhost feedback to an iRule variable so that I could manage more precisely the EventGhost information at the iRule level

I have the irule pro option.

Glad you enjoyed the video. I came up with the solution way back, before iRule had feedback and variables. It was a good workaround at the time. I don't think it will work for you now, since iRule is not aware of the content in the url widget. You would have to implement 'real' feedback using iRule's feedback functions for this to work. I haven't tried it myself but it should straight forward. I have seen some posts on the iRule forum on using EG with feedback, so suggest you look there. I am planning a major overhaul of my system, including a redesign of my iRule setup, so I'll be looking into this issue shortly.

I just upgraded to iRule Pro and it was really simple to add EG feedback and set variables. Assuming you already have iRule to EG set-up, all you have to do, is add a feedback to a page (I used the default iRule EG-mini feedback), connect it to the device that hosts your EG, and set a variable in the feedback properties. Over in EG, use the Broadcaster plugin to create an action that sends a message ti iRule) The payload will be used in iRule as the variable value. Make sure you set the right port in Broadcaster, same in config of plugin and in each action. That's it, piece of cake.

I am trying to do this as well so wondering what the steps are.

I have a variable eg.globals.CurrentTrack I want to be a feedback in iRule.
I've got the EG-mini installed and my broadcaster is working and I am able to get this working as a webpage but not I want to add this to a button/Label instead.

So do I just create a new feedback in EG-mini called eg.globals.CurrentTrack?
