That's a fair question. I can't really answer that since the only one I have is not for sale any more, but I imagine anything sold as an MCE compatible remote would do.

Maybe something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6880101008

or maybe someone else can suggest something.

I ordered a new IR Sensor, remotes shouldn't be the problem, because EG doesn't log any actions either from the Hama remote which belongs to the USB dongle or to my Harmony 300i I bought for testing purposes. I'll report (hopefully) my success ;)

yeah. I use the work remote loosely, since they generally sell a remote and receiver/transceiver together.

New IR Receiver really did help. EG gets the most Buttons (depending on which device I have mapped for the current election on my Harmony 300i, is there a way to get for one election all buttons to work?) It always give something with Unknown, but every time the same for the same button, as long as the remote election is the same, so I can programm profiles according to the 300i elections. I wish I had knew this before I wasted approxiatly 3-4 hours on trying ;) Thank You very much.

I'm happy to hear that it worked. I think you are asking another question here, but I'm not sure what you mean by "election". Translation error?

I have used "unknown.xxx" buttons before without any problems as long as they are reliable. Some devices send alternating signals on the same button. In that case you can usually just assign both events to your macro.

With election I mean the four possibilities on my Harmony 300i, TV (which is used for my TV) and the other three, AUX, Cable and DVD I think. I have to configure a device for each of this "profiles" in Myharmony.com and the most devices determine, that only some of the buttons of the Harmony are working. Question at hand is, is there a device (or better three) where every button of the Harmony is usable.

I advise you to post that question on a harmony forum. Either that or just start experimenting.

I have used a Harmony remote (4 different models) for years with EG, they work perfectly. If there are buttons that EG does not "see" then they are not sending an IR signal - or your IR receiver is not picking them up. When the Harmony is programmed, depending on the devices you selected, not all of the buttons will be assigned an IR code. If you want to use those buttons, you can program the Harmony manually. I use the desktop app, not MyHarmony, so I cannot guide you on the web site.
setup... XBMC, W7MC for DVR & Live OTA TV, JRMC for multi-zone audio, EG, MiCasaVerde Vera3, USB-UIRT IR receiver, Harmony remote, 5.2 home theater system

My IR blaster used to work. However, after some system updates, it's not working. I've tried using old drivers and unistalling/reinstalling the drivers etc. as well as plugging into different USB ports. Still don't get any activity on the IR blaster. I'm using the IR transciever that came with the HP Tv Wonder.

When EG launches, I get the following warning messages:
MCE_Vista: MceIr pipe is not available, app doesn't seem to be running
Will continue to try to connect to MceIr
Message = The system cannot find the file specified.

If I try to install the service using the MCE Vista config, I get the following error messages:
Traceback (most recent call last) (1544):
File "C:\Program Files (x86)\EventGhost\plugins\MceRemote_Vista\__init__.py", line 558, in OnInstallButton
ExecAsAdministrator(scriptPath, "Install")

return ExecAs(scriptPath, True, funcName, *args, **kwargs)

_CoTaskMemFree(p)
File "_ctypes/callproc.c", line 925, in GetResult
WindowsError: [Error -65535] Windows Error 0xFFFF0001

I'm on WIndows 7 64bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I did spend hours going through the forums, and was unable to come up with a solution despite seeing similar problems.

Thanks!

on rare occasions I've had EG stop working... I delete the current install (saving my config file) and install fresh.

I'd be surprised if that works, as everything else in eventghost is working perfectly

Hi Catharsis,

I'm not sure, but sounds like the alternate MCE driver (used for this plugin) has been corrupted or perhaps parts of it were overwritten with an MS update. I haven't encountered this problem but I do run Win 7 64-bit also. It also sounds like you've tried re-installing the alternate driver from within EG, but I'm guessing with this. If my guessing is correct, perhaps try re-installing the alternate drivers from outside the EG interface, i.e. from the Plugin directory you were meant to install it to, using the *x64.msi file. Just a suggestion, if you haven't already tried it.

thanks noesis! That sounds like a good idea. I'll give that it a try this weekend. Btw, I've heard some people say to delete the HID drivers for my IR blaster. Do you know if I should do that or not? I did try deleting them once but they reinstall every time the computer restarts and I'm not sure how to prevent that. Is that even something I need to worry about?

With regard to the deleting of the HID drivers for your IR blaster, I'm afraid I'm not really sure. I'd think if you've done it once and they reinstalled on restart, then if they were in some way corrupt before hand, then they should in theory be fixed due to the re-installation - however In practice I have experienced times were this isn't always the case and a complete shut-down & startup is needed after the uninstall instead (not so much with IR Blasters but other devices). As you've mentioned the drivers automatically install themselves anyway so it can't hurt to try it. Trial & Error (as annoying as it is) is your friend when troubleshooting this sort of thing.

Well, installing the service directly from the msi has gotten rid of the error messages i posted previously. however, i'm still not getting any response from the device. if i use MCE-Vista:Test IR Transmit capability it says IR Service not running. If I go into my services I see the Alternate MceIR service running. It is logged on as Local System. I'm trying to make it log on as an admin account but then it fails to log on. Any more ideas?
Thanks!
