Problem starting explorer.exe / Problem exiting EventGhost

Hi.

I have an HTPC which runs XBMC as a shell, and used EventGhost to set it up. This means explorer.exe is not loaded at startup.
What I want EventGhost to do step by step is:

1. Start XBMC.
2. When I exit XBMC I want explorer.exe to start.
3. When explorer.exe is running, I want EventGhost to exit.

This is what I have done so far:

- I have set up EventGhost to be launched as a shell. It boots up correctly, and starts XBMC.
- When I exit XBMC it correctly starts explorer.exe, BUT it only shows one folder. In other words, everything is black except for that folder (no start menu etc).
Am i refering to the wrong file? Now I use "C:\Windows\explorer.exe".
- When explorer.exe is executed, EventGhost closes. I did that by making a .bat file with a close program command.

So the question is how can I run explorer.exe including the entire shell? I use Windows 7 enterprice edition.

Update:

I almost found a solution for my problems now.
The reason explorer.exe didn't show the whole explorer shell, was that I used a program called "instantsheller" with recommended settings. To get this to work as intended I had to check "for this user only" and "use a mouse pointer".

The only problem now is how I can exit EventGhost. As stated earlier I made a batch file called "CloseEventGhost" with these commands:

TSKILL /A /V EventGhost

If I double click the batch file, the program works as intended (exits EventGhost). However, when I use "start program: CloseEventGhost.bat" inside EventGhost, it doesn't exit the program. Anyone know why? The processlog shows that it execute the command.

The "close" command is there temporary now, since it will minimize EventGhost.

I'm diggin up an old post, only as this is the best google search result about an issue i had running explorer.exe as a start menu \ bar, anyway i found a solution so leaving it here for others...

if i set windows shell to eventghost, when i next try and run explorer.exe it will show a folder view and not load the start bar. i worked out if i change the shell in registry back to explorer.exe just before I run it, then it will load the startbar fine, so just keep changing the registry entry backwards and forwards using the eventghost registry feature and you will be able to start windows normally
