MCE IR wont trasmit after sleep

I have a windows 7 PC with eventghost 0.4.1 r1572. Using the MCE IR plugin. When the computer is restarted it will transmit everything. but once it goes to sleep and wakes up no more transmit. there are no errors. I tried stopping and starting the plugin on sleep and wake. no luck. If I go in and restart the irpipeline service it starts working again. so there's something wrong with the service. I tried running the service under the administrator login but still no luck.

Any Ideas?

I did a few searches but there where no answers. and none with quite the same setup.

You could try devcon that's what i use for my pci card (and should work with usb..in theory). I've made a .cmd with notepad, see below:
cd c:\
devcon restart *VEN_13D0 # *VEN_13D0= Hw ID for my card

# to find the hardware ID for your usb IR use this: devcon hwids *usb* / Devcon.exe must be on c:\ directly

I confess though i have tried with my usb card card and it don't work strangely

Well I can give it a try. but its not the device thats the problem, its the service.

I've forgotten something. Once you've done the .cmd (and tested it to ensure it work , no need to sleep/wake up the computer for that go to the device manager and see what happens) In eventghost you have to create a macro in the switch folder (you need the plugins task create/switch events)

the macro (i've called it System:resume):
event: System.Resume
Wait 15. sec (not mandatory)
Start Program: here you pick your .cmd

Now each time your computer will wake up, it'll launch the cmd -> restart the card

Tested on Xp /win7 x64 work great for pci but for usb no luck not sure why.

Thanks, I actually came across this last night. I actually just made a cmd file with net stop and net start. Works like a charm. I use the system resume action and start application, then check wait for application to terminate. and the other checkbox. Works great. I think I also need to make the window hide.

Cool, my code above hides the window, but it's just a checkbox to tick. I'm not sure why you need to restart it though. I sleep/resume with that service without issue. Have you tried different USB ports? Latest chipset drivers? Tried unplugging other USB devices? Might narrow down the issue.

tried everything. The service still works, It receives codes but it wont transmit unless that service is reatarted. I have tried changing ports, even adding a PCI USB card. I tried making the service start under the administrator account. everything. nothing would work but this it nice and quick. And I like your way, doing it through event ghost. Ill give it a try.

No worries. Despite your title, I imagined it as just a receiving problem. I only ever use that service to receive codes, so maybe that is the difference. I use a USBÔÇôUIRT as my transmitter.

In order to stop and start a service in Windows8 (same as Windows7 I guess), I had to run the command as an administrator. I did it by creating two shortcuts containing the path and attributes to stop and start the service, and then changed the properties to "run as admin.."

Was a little bit too quick, the proposed solution did not work.


Instead I downloaded a tool called Command-Line UAC Elevation Utility from http://code.kliu.org/misc/elevate/

And configured Eventghost like this:



(one "start application" action for stopping the service, and one another one for starting the service, like someone suggested earlier in this thread)
