swiping to the left does close the layout list but without animation. So after lifting your finger, the layout list should just close automatically. I will add the animation at some point.

Swiping to change between layouts is planned. It will come.

I don't have a latin background. I just liked the wordplay with "remote" and something powerful like an earthquake. I know the name is a little odd, especially at the first time, but I found things like "android remote" or "remote for eventghost" being just too boring.

I'm having difficulty importing from another device. I recently got a Nexus 7 and would like to transfer my layouts from my Galaxy Nexus. I export from the GNex, copy the export.ter file to my Nexus 7, import this file, but receive an error message.

Is there any way around this?

It's currently impossible to analyze from here. Did you try it multiple times? A possible explanation would be that the file is broken, somehow.

First try to play with the import options like "only import layouts". If this doesn't help, try exporting single things like all layouts and macros. If the import of that file succeeds, try the pictures, then the rest.

I would actually like to diagnose the problem to prevent it from happening again. Could you send me an export file that does not get imported? I will check what's wrong.

Hello - first of all, thanks for all of your hard work on this app. I'm new to your app and to Eventghost, and I found your remote app to be the most intuitive of the bunch. I already have some useful macros set up and rudimentary control of my HTPC via my Android device. This app has a great deal of potential and your attention to posters here is encouraging.

Of course, I'm not posting simply to praise.

I'm having trouble with the Wake on LAN command. The app force closes when attempting to test or execute. I have WOL enabled on my NIC and tried using both the global and layout server options with the same result each time. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 with 2.3 Gingerbread.

For the time being, I control my HTPC with a Logitech diNovo mini keyboard, which uses a dedicated bluetooth dongle. This unit will wake the PC up with no problem, at which point Eventghost executes the startup of my amp, TV, etc.

Any suggestion?

first of all thanks for the nice words

About your problem: There could be different reasons. It shouldn't crash, of course. Did you send an error report when the app crashed? So far I'm not aware of any reports on WOL. Did you enter the MAC address of your device in the server preferences? This is absolutely necessary. Version 1.09 still crashes if you don't do that, I think. The new version won't.
Last thing: To ensure that WOL really works on your PC (if it doesn't work with terRemote), you should test it with some other app or device (or computer) in the same network. This can't be the cause of the crash but waking up a device via bluetooth is different from WOL.

I'll release a new version tonight. It should hopefully fix the crash even when the MAC address has a wrong format. If there is still a problem then, just write me again.

As you might have seen already, I uploaded the new version. Some bugfixes were made.

Most importantly, the popups within the trial time should not appear anymore. A big "thank you" to Rivvern for debbuggin that issue with me.
Everyone who installed the app within the last 9 days will automatically have a new trial period, starting from today.

Thanks to your interresting article about NFC and how you use it.
Seems that you are interrested in home automation. In case you want to do more than is currently possible with eventghost I recomend to take a look to "IP-Symcon" (dont know if its allowed to post links to commercial software in this forum). This software is somehow similar to eventghost but much more powerfull. It has interface to all state of the art home automation hardware. It can be programmed very easy with simple PHP style language. Only disadvatage, most part of our community and forum is in german language.
Since Chris added some feature to terremote I use ist the same way than you to communicate with IP-Symcon. Integrate NFC will be the next step.
So your article brought bunch of new ideas to my mind.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm obviously learning as I go here.

My problem was lack of the mac address. Plugged that in & no more crashes. I also didn't have it enabled in my BIOS. Got all of that straightened out and the remote will now wake the computer.

As with many things in life, the solution to a problem leads to the next problem.

My next issue goes beyond the scope of the remote app, but I'll ask it anyway, as I'm sure others have probably encountered this.
I'm guessing the WOL function in terremote does not send a "magic packet". I make this assumption based on the fact that while I can now wake the computer with the remote and put it back to sleep with Eventghost, it will wake itself up again in about 30 seconds. If I check "allow only a magic packet to wake the computer" in power management it will no longer wake up on its own, but terremote's WOL is rendered inoperative.

I've checked it out with the powercfg command, and predictably it is the ethernet controller that is causing the wake up, but I don't know how to determine what network traffic is causing this. Is there a way to sniff this out?


Another question - can anyone recommend a source for icons, button art & such for tablet use?

I'm doing my testing on the Samsung player but plan to use a CM9 hacked HP Touchpad for permanent layouts.

Thanks again - I'm learning a lot and still enjoying it for the most part - although this stuff can get tedious & frustrating at times. I can just imagine what it's like to build an app from scratch.

@Rivvern: Thank you for reminding me. I totally forgot about that...

@OldMojo: terRemote sends a magic packet. It is weird that it doesn't work when you activate that option. I also don't know why your computer wakes up. Are you sure this is caused by the app? Does it send anything? What happens when you put it into sleep over Windows (not using EventGhost) or when you unplug the lan cable?
I found somewhere that others had a similar problem with ASRock mainboards. If you also have one, maybe you can google the solution.
For tracking the network traffic, you should try out the freeware "Wireshark" which seems to be what most people use. Please let me know what you find out.

Now ist third time I am facing a strange effect. So its time to report.
It seems that terRemote sometimes mixup Free and Pro Version.

What happens: I have the Pro version installed. This is verified with Taskmanager which confirms terRemoete pro is running.
But in TerRemote log I get the Entry "Free version. Macro delayed by one second".
But after a while it knows that its the PRO Version.
Please see attaches screenshot.

Unfortunately it sometimes stuck in the Free version mode.

Any idea about that ?

Hey I really like the custom-ability of this program. I'm on the edge of purchasing it but I wanted to know if you were going to include hardware key support such as D-pads, slide out keyboards, and volume buttons on phones?

Also, It would be cools if you could have an option to display a different button icon altogether for the pressed state instead of just using the android style drawables on a button press.

If at least these two features were included it would be a definite purchase for me.
