terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
Hi Marbieskarb,
support of physical buttons is planned. It will definitely include the volume buttons as well as the "menu" and "back" button. For physical keyboards and pads, I honestly don't have an idea, yet, if and how it can be realized. It may be possible that I can easily generate an event every time such a button is pressed and that you can react on these events via a macro. This sounds like a possible solution. I'll see what I can do but the "standard" buttons will come first, I guess.
About changing the icon: I was planning on allowing for background images instead of just styles for the buttons. This would mean you could change the background image on the pressed state. If you "draw" your icon on that image, the effect would be the same. Since the pressed state is usually only shown while your finger is still on the icon, I did not know that there is a desire to change also the icon image for such a short time. Maybe you can give more details on how you want to use it.

Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
That would be neat to have hardware button control support for this app. I have a Droid A855 and a HTC Shift and they both have slideout keyboards and D-Pads for navigation. There is an app for Windows based devices called RemoteControl II that has the feature of assigning events to all the hard buttons including the keyboard. It also can be used with eventghost but both my HTC Mogul and Samsung SCH-i760 are way out dated and won't handle the other tasks that can be done with the more modern phones. I would be glad to test any ideas or workarounds you have to see if it works.
Also, regarding the pressed state for the icons I have attached an example of what I mean. arrow_right.png for your standard button and arrow_right_pressed.png for the pressed state. Just like the Phillips pronto remotes.

Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
Speaking of icons, is it possible to absolute center the icon? It seems no matter what setting I have, and even if the icon is the exact dimension of the button itself, it's skewed to the left by a good 15 pixels or so.
Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
@Marbieskarb: I'll see what I can do
@therealbiglou: The icon should be centered automatically. Check if you set the "Space to text" property to zero. It's under "Icon" when editing a button. You have to activate the advanced mode to see it.

Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
FYI: I released a new version, allowing for custom icons on home screen shortcuts and fixing some minor bugs.
If you haven't done it, yet, don't forget to rate terRemote and write a review on gplay. Also if you have purchase the Pro version, remember to submit your rating to the free version as well.
The next update will contain more new features than this one. Make sure to send me your preferences so that yours get realized more quickly.
Enjoy
Chris

Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
Hi Chris,
I'm experiencing something strange today. I haven't had time to work on my layouts since earlier this week, so I don't know if it has anything to do with yesterday's update or not.
Anyway, now when I try to add a new button or move an old one, holding & dragging either doesn't work at all or will only move it a little bit. I'm experiencing this on two different devices, both with the latest update.
It almost seems as though the movement of the widget is being halted when the "clip & size" box appears in the upper left corner.
I considered the possibility that I might have changed a setting somewhere, as I have been experimenting with different mousepad apps, but only on one of my devices. I've done no layout editing on the other device for a couple of weeks, although I've kept terremote updated on it..
thanks again for your efforts.

Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
Thank you very much for reporting that problem! I fixed it now and the new version should be available on gplay soon.
Also thanks to the anonymous person who checked the "send anonymous error reports" option and hence reported the issue with creating shortcuts for layouts.
You guys are the best.

Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
I just uploaded the new update. Finally got round to realizing many requests I received over the last weeks. It had to involve some major invisible changes that were about time. Everything seems to be stable, though. Please report any weird behavior.
The detailed changes can be found in the changelog. Some things that are now possible:
- Use the back button to go to the previously opened page
- React on different events with the same macro (e.g. forward network commands to Tasker)
- Set a timer for something to happen, cancel or reset that timer on some event
- Use one button for multiple actions
- duplicate widgets to other layouts for easier layout setup
When using events with stars (*), get the matched string with ${match.0}, ${match.1},...
If I said I would realize your request and haven't done it, yet, please be patient. It will come. Or send another mail to remind me... ^^
Enjoy!

Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
I see with the new update you added experimental support for hardware buttons which is very nice. However, after activating support for it in options and pressing my volume up and down as well as the dpad, eventghost doesn't receive any events. Now I do see the network event in the event log in your app but nothing shows up in EG. All of my soft buttons work on the same layout and server and EG picks up those.
Am I doing something wrong?
I'm using a HTC Evo shift.

Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
Hi,
activating the hard button option just gives you the events. It does not forward them automatically to eventghost.
To do that, you can create a macro for the event "Key.*" and send a message with the key to eventghost. The key is in the variable ${match.0} since it is the first (and only) star that was matched.
Note that the default behavior of the button is disabled when a macro picks it up. You might have to reassign the back button with another macro.

Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
Hello TerRemote,
I'm trying to send a payload with text that contains CR and LF (\l\n) in the text and \n is just about impossible to send with network send as it uses \n as a terminator for a payload.
so I tried using hex values \x0A and \x0C that will send over to another network receiver (and TerRemote), but it seems that TerRemote is just ignoring the codes.
I also tried double backslashes (\\r\\n) and then I see a continues line with "rn" for every CR LF I want.
To clarify:
I'm trying to send an event-log to the mobile device when I enter the house.
this can be multiple lines of text like this:
"Hello,
Today something happened.
Something else happened too."
And I would like to display that on a widget (with CR LF).
Is this possible, or do you have to make a change to your code for that ?

Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
Hi,
what you try to do is currently not possible although I see why it's necessary. I'll try to include that soon. As you suspected, I have to change some code for that and first have to think about in which way it is best to do this. For your setup, expect that the command "\n" will stand for a new line.
It's on my list now and I'll try to add this feature as soon as possible.
Best,
Chris

On my Samsung Galaxy SII the frame on my background is not visible on the right side! Looks like it is to wide for my phone.
Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
Hello
is there anyway to add an action to close an app on the phone ?

Re: terRemote - Android remote app for EventGhost
I just wanted to say thanks for this app. I am planning to do some experimenting with this app as a second contrloller to my Infrared setup. The interface and configuration options seem pretty straight forward. I have created some buttons and some layouts just to test. I have not yet connected to an eventghost server to see how the events show up in EG. I am still pretty new to EG, and also barely getting my IR setup squared away.
One thing I would very much like to have, that I have not found yet in the app, is support for gestures. It would be nice to swipe up/down/left/right for direction buttons, etc. I notice that the swipes, instead, navigate you around in the layouts. Is this correct?
Thanks,
Gil
