TRYING TO SETUP MY WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER REMOTE

Ok, so i now have a pretty good idea of what im supposed to do, but before i explain step by step what i did, is there something I can do to get eventghost to stop freezing, i tried installing an older version, maybe i need to get an even older one. So what i did was, configuration, create plugin, chose windows media center vista/7, im running 7 32 bit, then new folder, named it wmcremote, then add macro, i then go to my plugin to add my first action i chose transmit ir under my plugin, the other two options are, get mce ir device capability. the other is test ir transmit capability, it then asks that i press a button on my cable box remote and it will find the code, i start with the ok button, then save the thing that pops up (the action?) as buttonok, then i create another macro, and I keep doing this for buttons 0-9, channel up and down, and whatever other buttons i want learned from what ive gathered, but another issue is that when I go back to the learn another code option the learn ir code button is sometime not highlighted, and also I now cant create even one macro without the program freezing, if i could get a few done i could save my progress as i go. COULD SOMEONE OR SOMEONES PLEASE HELP ME, WAS I GOING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, AND IF I WAS DOING THINGS RIGHT WHAT R THE LAST STEPS AFTER I CREATE ALL MY MACROS. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS REMOTE AND MEDIA CENTER FOR ABOUT 2 AND A HALF MONTHS thank you all
