I am baffled!! some insight perhaps

Post by virnoche »

It's a week now and i think I have this EV thing figured out......BUT, Here's my experience maybe someone can shed some light.

HTPC with ehome MCE Remote. Took a week but figured out finally how to make macros etc...actually very easy. :) I learn an IR code from Pionner Reciever and drop say MCE Remote Blue ontop......Click the blue button and it shuts right off...then i get three more events in the left pane and it turns right back on!!?? Any I DEERS??

Then......I have a CRE x1000 projector. I have currently been controlling it with its stock remote via a monoprice cheapo blaster because the projector is behind a glass window/wall. Worked perfect! So......lets give this EG thing a try right?? Well......it will not work for the first 4 days of this week.....a light bulb goes on in the ole' noggin. Let's run the ehome blaster to the cheapo monoprice blaster and see if that works!!!!??? IT WORKED!!! but why?

I simply taped the blaster from the ehome to the receiver of the cheapo and it transfered the signal. I can take EITHER of the blasters directly to the projector and no go.......but sending thru a seperate blaster after the ehome does the trick. I would rather not have to do this......any ideas why this works as it does??

GREAT FRIGGIN PRODUCT BTW!!!!! I actually am a programmer by trade and actually set out to write something like this to work with my android tablet and ran across this.....note to self "why re-invent the wheel!?"

Thanks in advance for any help you can lend......

Update:
I got the projector to finally work but oncovered something else that baffles me...
The Projector locks up, meaning it will not accept ANY IR even from it's own remote.....actually have to unplug the dang thing to unlock it. I hace the MCE Blaster with any old blaster controlling it, but it seems to lock up occasionally for some reason. Has anyone ever experienced this? I googled 'component locks up after IR blast' yileds no results.

Next phase is going to be automating the whole in house theatre experience!!! Walk in the theatre and it turns on! :)

The only time I've ever experienced something like this, is when there is a constant IR signal from somewhere. For example, one time, a remote got wedged in the side of my seat, holding a button down. When that happened, none of my remotes worked until I discovered this thing was transmitting continually. Perhaps your blaster device is misbehaving and constantly sending IR?

Good luck.
