X10 RF (motion sensors) with EventGhost?

Post by Livin »

I'm looking to see if anyone has used, or is using, a cm19a X10 interface with EG?

I'd like to use EG as a bridge to my MiCasaVerde Vera3 since it does not support X10 RF. Basically I just need EG to "hear" the X10 RF events so I can have EG send the Vera communications to trigger events in the Vera.

If you can help, I'd appreciate it.

thx!

Any update with this? I would like to use a motion sensor to have my lights automatically turn on and off if it detects motion.

I've received no help, or response, from the Python gurus on the forum - unless I do this will never happen with EG.

I'm now looking at doing it with a PogoPlug + Mochad.

I use a cm11a to interact with x10 stuff and a Vera/Eventghost, but unfortunately it doesn't look like the cm19a is compatible.

http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/ ... 463.0.html is that of any help?

I think you could consider an RFXtrx transceiver, it supports X10 and there is a plugin already available

I am... sorta.
I have used X10 for many things in the past and still do.
I have the CM19a on my PC now and I have been treating it as a paperweight (useless to me).
But I do use x10 to turn on monitor printer etc.

Your question made me look...
I have a few motion sensors and I just tripped one and did see a simple "X10 On/Off" in my EG event window.
Never noticed that before or even tried to use it.

I have Win7 64 on this PC.
If I can offer anything else just ask.

That is exactly something of interest I would say. Could you copy & paste the complete event you get (hopefully with some unique id etc).

Not sure how much this is gonna help...
Not much of a log but the below happens from my x10 remote button presses (PalmPad) and it also shows up when I trip the motion sensor.
Now I'm not sure if the motion sensor trips the cm19a and THEN that fires a signal to EG or if the sensor fires to EG directly.
and... the X10PTZOFF was the motion sensor (never saw that code/signal before)

Not really using any x10 plugins, besides main remote SnapStream remote plugin.
I have installed AHSDK, I also use a SnapStream Firefly and in the past I have used SCT.exe to send signals to an x10 FireFly dongle (works with the cm19a too I think.)

After much tinkering I go it to work... not sure what made it happen but I 'think' it was installing the drivers that install with the XFIRE.EXE (drivers) I downloaded from the X10 site. Though, I did try AHSDK first and that did not see to work (though I did not reboot after I installed them so who knows. I also installed x10drivers_rf_all.exe from that site too. So, any or all of these might work--- just reboot after each one so we can find out which one actually works! :)

FYI - It took a reboot to get EG to start logging X10 activity!

my setup...

CM19a USB Transceiver
Win 7 x64
-- Control Panel / Devices and Printers shows "USB Transceiver" device
-- device properties shows it as "X10 USB Firecracker Interface" using driver version 6.0.0.242 (5/12/2009)
-- "X10 Device Network" service started
installed drivers: AHDSK and original Firecracker (one with the PC palmpad remote exe)
EG SnapStream Plugin starts without error

Now the next issue to overcome...

The log has no payload - only logs X10 on/off thus nothing telling us what the house/unit code is. Maybe someone Python savvy can look at the X10 plugin to see if there is a way to get it to pass the payload with house/unit code?

Exactly what plugin are we talking about that would need this modification?

Bitmonster's original "X10 Remote" plugin it sees the CM19a and receives commands... the plugin allows you to specifically set "active IDs" so I must assume it does see the House/Unit code and just not pass that info to the log.

OK, I have just modified the existing one a bit, added a payload to the event, lets see what it gives. It is only the address and command type that could be of interest (only those are additionally available and could eventually be used as identifiers)

BestR

Code: Select all

            plugin.TriggerEnduringEvent(
                plugin.mappingTable.get(event, event),
                payload=str(lAddress)+'|'+str(eCommandType)
            )

I just tested your update and it works, with interesting results. It does not give me house/unit code but something at first I could not decipher until I tested using the PC app for the firecracker that has an X10 Palmpad emulator. It seems the first # in the payload (lAddress) is coming through as a decimal representation of the House/Unit code as a single address.

Example:

X10.On '0|64' <-- 0 = A1
X10.On '1|64' <-- 1 = A2
X10.On '7|64' <-- 7 = A8
X10.On '16|64' <-- 16 = B1
X10.On '32|64' <-- 32 = C1

Can you add in some mapping code to make the log output conform to the X10 readable standard... House/Unit codes?

This is a great advance as many of us have CM19a and motion sensors.

thx for helping!!!

Hi,

This is an updated experimental version, right now I do not know how we shall handle this in general, if we need to make a separate one, if this update doesn't break anything from previous or if we just keep it as experimental for now.

This version is mapping house/units from A1-A16, B1-B16 and C1-C16. It is rather straight forward to add more house addresses (D-P), please feel free to edit the specific section accordingly.
