Thanks Walter,

I have the AC type homeeasy dimming lights and can set the levels directly. But I thought that might be the case, that we don't know what the previous dim level of the lights are at. I appreciate that you might look into the gradual dimming feature, its just a wishlist that it could gradually dim, it's still great without this.

I thought I would ask since manually at the switch I can manually gradually dim to a required level, I thought maybe 'if' there was such a command to cycle dimming, it would just gradually dim from whatever previous level it was at...magically.

I wish I could help, but very new to all this

Thanks again

Such a gradual dimming of a lamp, during what time span would you see this dimming happen? Like 10 seconds?

I recently bought myself a new TFA temperature and humidity sensor to put outside and monitor the outside temperature, I found out that this particular model is compatible with the RFXCom receiver.
When I got the product delivered I found out that before I bought it, I only checked if RFXCom was compatible, I forgot to check if the Eventghost plugin is compatible....
Afterall I found out that support for this TFA sensor was already put into the Eventghost RFXtrx plugin, I just had to enable it and it was plug and play....

So this isn't actually a question, but a thanksword for the developers from Eventghost and the RFXTrx plugin for making it all working like a charm, especially you, Walter! You're doing a good job! :D

(One little note is that I found out by switching on the TFA support in the RFX plugin that one of my neighbours had already an outside sensor....... so, mine's is going to be inside .. LOL :lol: )

Thank you very much for your kind feedback!

I'm really happy to hear that it works good for you. I do not have all type of devices myself so it is great to read about what devices you are actually using.

I have made an experimental version based on the idea of 'kickers56', the nice idea of gradually dimming...

So here it is, attached below, the first version that is supporting gradual dimming (of AC compatible dimming devices with set level support).

The function is like follows:

You select to create a macro and add the new action 'DimGradually_AC'. Then you will see the following configuration dialog:
Image2.png
Image2.png (8.99 KiB) Viewed 8198 times

If you set a dim level and run the macro, the dimming will happen in the required steps from the current dim level the device is set to. The time between the dim command will be as specified (0.1 -600.0 seconds).

For the fastest possible operation, I use 0.2, the RFXtrx is working fast and hard so we have to give it some time to breath in between.

If you prefer a long operation you can of course set a longer time period.

Once it has executed, it will remember the latest setting (also after a restart of EG or the computer) so you can actually restore the state very easily. Currently I am not tracking if you are setting the device with a remote, I am assuming that that the actions 'owns' the device and will overrule any other change.

As example, assume the current level is set to 5 and you would like to dim to level 12. The dimming will then start with sending a command 'set level' 5 then 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 with the specified time in in between. If you now would like to go down to level 9, the sequence will be 12, 11, 10 and 9.

When you reach the dim level 0, I noticed that this is not fully off so I actually added a real off command at the end (maybe should stay at level 0 instead, please give your feedback).

Best regards, looking forward to your feedback

That works very well, a nice staged dimming, I too am using 0.2 as suggested. Thank you for your work on this.

I am actually controlling the lights via voice command from voxcommando program, and this works very nice.

I think 0 should be off in my personal opinion, as thats what makes logical sense from a human standpoint so I'm glad you added that.

Overall I think this is a great addition to the plugin with the feature that we can alter the dimming timings precisely, and therefore can be used for a number of situations.

Well done

Hi,

Can I just quickly ask what the group on, group off and set group levels are and how I would use them?
Has it anything to do with this:

unit=#(0-16)|group
The unit number of the device. This is a value between 0 and 16, and can also be a special reserved unit called "group". The "group" unit code is especially useful with computer control, since two consecutive group on commands will not cause the device to go into its dimming cycle.

Thanks

Well, I have not tried or used that myself, but my understanding is that when you use a group command, all your devices programmed with the same unit address will be affected, the unit code has no meaning and be anything from 1 to 16.

If we are discussing the AC types.

hi krambriw,

Thanks a lot for your great job. I am very new using eventghost and I don't know so much with Python. I just bough one BLYSS receiver and one BLYSS transmitter. I did upgrade my RFXCOM firmware with the 64. Using Rfxmanager I can get a message when I push on the transmitter but in Eventghost I get "Decoding of message failed ['0b', '15', '00', '00', '12', 'ea', '48', '01', '01', '04', '5f', '60'].

Here is the message I get in Rfxmanager:

0B15000112EA480100012C60
Packettype = Lighting6
subtype = Blyss
Sequence nbr = 1
ID = 12EA
groupcode = H
unitcode = 1
Command = On
Command seqnbr= 1
rfu = 44
Signal level = 6

It seems to be the group code H that you still have not implemented for yet. I started to modify your plugin in order to add it but in vain. I manage to send an order but I still can not decode the event. Could you please help me and add the group code H?

Thanks a lot for your help and time.

I'm on a business trip this week, I'll look into this when I am back. What is the highest letters/values you can set on your devices for Group (A-??) and Unit (1-??) codes?

Hi Walter,

I have no idea what the highest value can be. In fact I got the information using rfxmanager to listen to the transmitter. What I know is that the blyss transmitter and receiver work fine together and alone without using EventGhost and my Rfxtrx433. With rfxmanager I know that the transmitter uses groupcode = H and unitcode = 1. I don't know what Blyss Thomson meant for the highest values in their products. But what is sure is that they go until H for the group. I think that we need to ask rfxcom or blyss to know more about it.

I have implemented according to specification (it specifies A-E). Obviously it can be set higher so I suspect it is just a documentation update needed. I can easily set support up to H but if it can goes higher, I would rather like to do that at the same time.

Bert from RFXCOM visits this forum frequently so we will await his response.

In RFXmngr receiving there is no check on the Group code.
For transmit is only A to E used at the moment. This can be expanded but we have to be sure what the limit is.

Seb,
which Blyss device transmits code H?
If you like to do a test we can change RFXmngr for Group codes A to Z, please contact support

Hi Bert,

I didn't try to transmit in RFXmngr. You're right! it goes only to E. I managed to transmit with Eventghost after I worked on the Rfxtrx plugin where I tried to extend the Group code to H. As as said it works for transmitting but not for decoding. When I'll be back home I'll take the reference of the blyss device and post it.
It is a micro transmitter that goes behind a light switch. I bought it last week at Castorama in France with the receiver in the same package for 30Ôé¼.

Edit: I have only one reference in the package for both devices: ref 599032

Until the Blyss thing has been sorted out, here is a version that should work up to group code 'P'

Please report back if it works ok (both sending and receiving should work)
