I'm working on a plugin to use instant messaging. Actually it consist of two plugins. One for EG and one for Emesene. Emesene is a messenger for the Windows Live Network (MSN).
The plugin is in an early stage. I need to add more error checking and want to add more functionality. To get it working, you need to have both plugins installed (EG & Emesene). Emesene must be started and logged in (and the plugin must be activated).
What's working
In Emesene: In a conversation you can generate an event. /eg event (~ payload)
In Emesene: Events will be generated when you receive or send a message, a conversation window is opend or closed.
In EG: Get a list with the buddies (emails) -> eg.result

No and yes . On your computer you need the program Emesene. It will use the Live Messenger Network to send and receive messages. So you can use your LM account with Emesene.
In EventGhost you can add an action to send a message and Emesene will automaticly generate an event in EventGhost when you receive a message.

Cool. I'll try it this weekend... I want to send IMs to myself based on EG events... like ways to monitor what is going on with the HTPC
I've been hoping someone would build an IM client. I'd never heard of Emesene until you posted this either.
thx!

I thought that the coding corner is just for questions, but in this thread i don't have questions . I would have opend it in Plugin support, but i have no write permission there.
@moderator: Feel free to move this thread where it best fit in.

WOW, that is quite a lot to install. Why can't it just use the Python libraries installed with EG?

Currently i'm trying to create a plugin for emesene2. I already get events from e2 when logon/off, start/close a conversation. But i have a problem with e2 itself: i can't receive a message, sending is ok. And after sending/receiving e2 will crash.
Ok, here is a first try. I wasn't able yet to send messages. I wrote in the emesene google group, but have no answer till now.
To use it, copy the folder from the zip file to the plugin folder of emesene2. When you used the installer-version of e2 it's c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\emesene\emesene2\plugins\. In EG add the Network Event Receiver plugin. Configure both and see what happens
The news is, that MSN is dead. So emesene won't work anymore on with it. There are other protocols that could be used, but atm i don't have the time to investigate in it. Sorry
