Controlling Rf remote using eventghost/USB-UIRT?

Post by Stalltime »

Hello guys,
I have been using eventghost and USB-UIRT to control several infrared remote devices in my room, e.g. media player, TV, Dyson heater. I only have one device that uses rf remote!
Is there anything I can do or add so I can convert it's signal to infrared signal, which can be controlled by event ghost/USB-UIRT?

Thanks guys

Not without adding other hardware; you need something that can transmit RF. There are various types of RF transmitters for various protocols that can be connected to PC's; you would have to investigate if one is available for your particular device.
If so, you could use the USBUIRT to receive an infrared command, have Eventghost use this event as a trigger or sending the command you want with the RF transmitter.

Thanks piert,
you're probably right I need extra hardware for rf transmitter/receiver! But when I searched Bing I found nothing other than a universal remote control which accepts rf and infrared! There is also some other devices out there to convert infrared to rf, so it can over come infrared limitations such as distance and obstacle!

if you know of a hardware that converts rf to infrared, please tell me. Thanks
