I would like to control a device (vid├®o switch) via RS232 , I have no RS232 port on my PC , so I am thinking about a USB to RS232 cable.

How does it work with Eventghost ?
Do you have a solution to recommend ?
Any experience ?

Most of the USB-RS232 adapters are nothing more than crap.
I can recommend only adapters with an FTDI chipset. Sadly they are hard to find. One model with such chipset is the Digitus DA-70146. But I don't know if this model is available in your country:

Another possibility is to search for the drivers of a particular device and look into the install files if you find any references to "FTDI" or "FTD" in the .INI files.

I can buy the DIGITUS DA-70146 it in France. Thank you for the information.

Before I pass the order, does it work currently with Eventghost ? What need to be done ?

If your video switch protocol needs no special computation, you can simply use the "Serial Port" plug-in with its "Write" action.
