Send keyboard key command to minimized/non active screen

Post by THX-UltraII »

I have a program running on my PC that has keyboard shortcuts support. The problem is that this program (a control panel) only 'receives' these keyboard shortcuts when this control panel is active/on the foreground/maximized. Is Evenghost able to send a keyboard shortcut to this control panel when it is not active/minimized and it does recieve these keyboard shortcuts.

ah, you are trying to let me search myself :D :D
Your nethod pays off!
But unfortunately I cannot seem to get it working.

Here s what I did:
The CTRL+A keyboard shortcut takes care of the Master MFX slider to decrease. I added a button on my remote and it works fine when the D-Box control panel is the active window (it is screenshot 1 where it works fine). But when I click eg. on my desktop (so the mci control panel is not the active window anymore) it does not work anymore.
So...... I found the ACTION 'find a window' that I can add to the macro. So I dragged the finder to the mci control panel window (screenshot 2) which resulted in screenshot 3. I clicked on APPLY and OK and my macro result is screenshot 4.

Unfortunately it does not work...... Is there anything I could be doing wrong here zian?

What I also found out today it that my D-Box program has IP support. Is there a way I can do something with this with Evenghost?

THX-UltraII, You should place "Bring to Front", after the "Find Window:" (to make a window an active)...

thxz. Will try this tonight but I don t think this is going to work for me because I want to be able to send key commands to my D-Box Control Panel while I m watching a movie on the same PC. This means that my MPC-HC will lose focus right?

Can you say if TCP IP is supported by Eventghost?

I was right about it, it does work but not the way I want it to. My media Player needs to be kept on top always (while watching the movie).
Is Eventghost not able to send a key command exclusive to a program by my choise (that of course is running).

If not, the RS232 or TCP IP thing is the next step I need to look at but I have no clue how to start with this.....

But if i remove the 'bring to front' action something goes wrong because the Control Panels does not respond (read: key commands are not received)
