Need help with all the "Unknown" IR codes!

I was using EventGhost 3.6x on XP without any problems whatsoever. I switched to Win 7 x64, and with that, installed the latest 3.7x version.

Now, I'm getting the dreaded "Unknown" IR codes. I saw that several people had this problem, but I never saw a proper fix listed.

Is EG trying to decipher the manufacturer of the remote? Is that the problem? I don't need EG to be able to figure this out, I only need it to recognize one signal from another.

I use a truly universal remote. Since I use it with an HTPC, I added a lot of custom commands - for which I used a random selection of IR codes coming from many brands of equipment, so as not to conflict with anything I actually have. That means that each code I use can originate from a different manufacturer. It shouldn't matter whether EG recognizes which manufacturer it came from, it only needs to uniquely identify each code.


The USB-UIRT can accurately distinguish one IR code from another - that should be the only thing that EG cares about. Right now, I have several buttons that show up with the same USB-UIRT.Unknown.10 code, which makes them useless.

Why was EG broken like this? Is there any way to configure the current versions to handle IR codes the same way 3.6x did? Is there another solution?

I have the same problem as you with diffrent ir-codes, on each button of my Harmony One Remote. Have you found a solution to your problem or found a workaraound?

The only workaround I found was to continue to use Beta 0.3.6.1484. I've never upgraded because this problem was an absolute app killer for me.

Can someone please fix this and restore functionality back to when it worked?

hey! thanks for your reply, interesting that it works better in the earlier version of the program. You will not possibly keep the setup file for the program in the version you have?

Witch IR-reciver are you using? USB-UIRT?

Well, I had backed up my setup file before upgrading, so when I saw that the new version was effectively useless, I had my original setup file to move back to.

And yes, I'm using USB-UIRT.

Sorry for bringing up this old issue again, but it seems it has never been solved.

This was the thread with the closest thing to a solution that I could find.
My problem is, that after a lot of searching I've given up finding any release older than 4.0 to download.

Anyone who knows where such an old release can be found?

I'm using an USB-UIRT, and several different remotes including a Harmony Ultimate emulating the others.
All of them produce the "Unknown.10" events. When clicking a button repeatedly, it works as long as I repeat slowly (~1s between presses).
For the attached example, I pressed the same button several times in sequence; slowly at first, then fast, then slowly again.

The solution seams to find a remote device on your harmony that works with your USB-UIRT
I Use a harmony one and a Sony minidisc device that works GREAT!

Im using Sony MDS-JE510 Mini Disc Deck IR-codes on my harmony and it works.

I was so narrowminded, only tried with learning the Logi codes from old obsolete remotes of mine...
