scan an app, wait for keystroke and emulate keystrokes?

Post by majorspawn »

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if EventGhost can scan an application e.g a game and detect when you press ESC at any time during the game being active. If ESC is pressed it will then send a predefined sequence of keystrokes to emulate going to the game menu and selecting options to exit the game. So the real need is to emulate the ESC to be the exit trigger for the application instead of, ESC, down, down, down, enter, yes etc

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure EventGhost can do this for your game, but it worked when I tried in Notepad.

You need the "Keyboard" plugin then get the event for "ESC" (The keyboard plugin creates event for all keys you press, and as a result I started to get double events for my arrow keys and maybe others too, so beware :D )
Then use "Emulate keystroke" action to send the keys you want to send instead of ESC.

(Non EventGhost related tip) This type of keyboard remapping for games I use Autohotkey might be better suited for controlling games.
