Using 2 USB-UIRT devices in eg

Hello Forum,
my problem is, that I have to control IR-receiving devices (DVD-player, amplifier etc) in 2 diferent rooms from a 3rd room. I use a tablet-pc with a self-made http-page via the webserver of EG. Until some days ago I used only one USB-UIRT and everything was fine and up and running. As I moved the pvr in the second room, I needed a second USB-UIRT and now the problem starts. Windows 7 - device manager shows both UIRTs with different ports and hubs and tells they are OK.
In EG I have one USB-UIRT-plugin that connects to one of the devices (and works), but when I try to add a second instance of this plugin, it says "not found" in the info-fields (Protocol version, Firmware version, firmware date) and "device not found" in the log if I start it anyway.
Please help, what can I do ???

Not sure if two devices is possible on one computer.

You do not need two usbuirt.

Google, Ebode wireless ir extender. Its possible to connect many recievers.

I looked in to getting two or more usb-uirts on the same pc. I actually had the need as I was using it to control 3 identical model tvs, and mce extenders in different rooms. This meant I needed 3 distint outputs. Each one has a left and right, so 2 rooms were covered, but the third would be a problem. I never could get it to work right all the time(work on the project for about 2 months). My attempt was using a modified hid plugin to list the devices and then use that. Well in the end I gave up.

My solution - VM
I already had multiple virtual machines running, so now I have one serving one of the uirts. It just involved the network send/receive plugins between the 2 eventghosts.

What I would do now:
Just spend the money and get http://www.globalcache.com/products/itach/ and make a plugin for them. They are not as cheap, but they don't require cables (mine were put in during remodel).

If you need the input (remote to pc) Then yes you should still use a uirt as mine have been very stable in eg.

If I were to start my setup from scratch I would go with the itach (Global cache) to distribute ir. But I already have a whole house wired IR distribution also.

Anyway if you only need the IR output of the USB-UIRT:
Connect the USB-URT to a Xantech CB12 connecting Block Via 3.5mm Stereo audio cable to the input labeled IR_RCVR (this can be skipped if you strip the 3.5mm cable but it makes it a lot easier). There are three screws on the CB12 Labeled "V","G" and "S". When the CB12 is connected to a USB-Uirt "V" is now Ground, "G" is now the "RIGHT" output of the USB-UIRT, and "S" is the "LEFT" output of the USB-UIRT. Do not connect a power adapter to the CB12, it is only used to split the 3 wires from the 3.5mm cable.

Now that you have the Ground, Right_Output, and Left_Ouptut split you can connect an IR emitter or an IR distribution block with many IR emitters via the "V","G" and "S" terminals

The following is a post I wrote on an A/V forum on how to proceed to connect the CB12 (connected to a USB-Uirt) to a Xantech distribution block:
You are going to need and amplified Xantech connecting block (ie Xantech 791-44). In order to connect the "RIGHT" output of the USB-UIRT" to a Xantech connecting block you will need to wire the screw labeled "G" on the CB12 to the "IR IN" on the 7911-44 and the screw labeled "V" on the CB12 to the "GND" on the 791-44. Do not connect anything from the CB12 (or USB-UIRT) to the "+12 VDC" or "STATUS" on the 791-44. The 791-44 will need to be powered by a power adapter (ie 781ERGPS) for IR to be strong enough to reach the equipment. The "LEFT" Side of the USB-UIRT can be wired to another 791-44 by connecting the "S" on the CB12 to the "IR IN" of the 791-44 and the "V" on the CB12 to the "GND" on the 791-44.

You can substitute the 7911-44 with another CB12 (note "S" on CB12 is the same as "IR IN" on 7911-44)

It sounds like you don't have a problem with adding wiring and you only need IR blasting, not receiving, so why wouldn't you just add a splitter to your 1/8" (3.5 mm) IR emitter port and run wired emitters to your two locations?

I just hit the jackpot for us all. I was looking at the usb-uirt plugin and noticed where it looks for the name of the device. I noticed it could have numbers after it. I remembered you could rename some of the older lirc devices. I looked and guess what you can rename the second, third, etc. device names. This allows multiple instances running in eg and it works. I did have some problems with getting it to rename on my win7 x64 machine. I had to use a win 7 x86 laptop to do it.
