I have my computer lock automatically when I turn off my lights. The user is still logged in, but the computer is simply locked. I would like to be able to re-enable the monitors when I turn the lights on, but EG doesn't seem to be able to do this because the computer is not unlocked. Is there anyway around this? I understand why it wouldn't work if I wasn't logged in, but I can even see where it sees the event, but the monitors dont' turn on.
They do turn on if I just power them off and don't lock the computer. If it's not possible through EG, can anyone give me a pointer of where to look to do it with something else? I've searched around, but no luck yet.

I use nircmd.exe to enable/disable my monitor from the lock screen:

Thanks for the suggestion. It works...... sort of. When the command is executed, the monitors do turn back on, but then turn immediately back off. I don't get a lock screen. If I move my mouse I do. I also tried the nircmd sendkey and sendmouse left click commands, but no go.
I am using windows 8.1, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

I'm a bit puzzled why you want the monitors to switch back on, as you will have to use the keyboard anyway to log in... but ok...
Not sure if this will work, but perhaps it is possible to kill the screensaver process?
Killing that one should stop the screen saver, and perhaps it will imply that the computer will again send a signal to the monitor. Not sure if it would work that way, or how to achieve it though... Just a thought...

I will give that a try tomorrow. I appreciate the suggestion.
The reason I want it to turn the monitors back on is because there is about a 5 second lag for the monitors to turn on. This means by time I hit the switch and get I'm my seat the screens could be on and waiting for me to type my password in instead of me now having to wait a bit longer. Is it necessary? Absolutely not. To some degree I also like it for the "cool factor".
Its kinds like how its cool that I hit a switch on the wall and my computer locks and the monitors turn off. I don't need it to work that way but its cool that it does. It also saves some power instead of waiting for the monitors to time out on their own.
