What do you mean by "remote button emulation"?

The first request was while the tv was on, and the second was when it was off.

Interestingly the tv does send the "I turned on" response even though it doesn't actually turn on.

Is there any way to capture the command that the cec tray app sends over? That program is definitely doing something different than the eventghost library.

It is a function of CEC that sends remote control keypresses.


go to http://www.cec-o-matic.com/

Click the source and destination devices (in my case recording 1 and TV)
Select 'Remote control Pass-through' and select 'Power On Function' from the drop-down menu
Press the purple UP arrow to receive the code for the function:

I had a similar issue with the TV On and TV Off commands doing weird things, but the remote commands work fine

For my amp I distinguish between 4 responses.
From your picture I see that it does send different responses. one ending with 00 other with 01.
but I also see that you use xbmc. then usually that program takes over control of the usb device.

Got it working! But had to dig a little deeper. None of the remote control pass through codes would work for me. Not sure why. I tried several source/destination combinations to no avail. I was able to debug a bit with the cec tray app. Below is the relevant portion of the log from the cec tray app 'off' request and subsequently the 'on' request. Note there is a two part command for returning from standby. I needed to use two actions - 10:04 and 1f:84:10:00:01 to get it to work. Not sure if it's something peculiar with my tv but I'm now set for what I need (just power control).

I've had a nicely working installation with v0.2 plugin - except for one thing. Everytime my TV/computer would turn on I would have to tell my Panasonic TV to Activate the VieraLink in order for the commands to be passed to the computer. This never used to happen with built in XBMC control, it used to start working straight away. No biggie, but in an effort to resolve this I looked on here and found v0.3 had been released. So I upgraded and now I eventghost doesn't see any TV remote button presses except Stop, Pause, Play, FF, RW. Also the codes I was seeing in after the plugin started in v0.2 aren't coming up anymore in v0.3. Do I now need to send these codes manually?
Also can someone tell me what settings (if any) I should be setting up with the cec-client.exe command tool? Things like physical address, etc. Or can everything happen from within the plugin?

I've had difficulty finding the CEC-Client.exe file. Is this the same as the CEC Tray application? I've pointed the plugin to this file and all it does is run the CEC Tray application... remote control actions still aren't logged in EG. Am I missing something?

Michae7oliver, the CEC-Client.exe file is located in your install directory (same as the tray application), but it needs to be selected during install. It threw me off for a bit as well. So just run the installer again, and select 'full install', or whatever the option is called, and you'll see the file in your libCEC directory.

I'm running into a problem with EG locking up / going into a loop when I launch xbmc. I've attached my EG tree and was hoping someone might be able to tell me what I'm doing wrong as I can't work it out.

Note that it works fine on start up and only becomes an issue if I exit out of xbmc and then try to launch xbmc again (either through the Red button on my Sony remote which I've mapped to launch it or by picking xbmc out of the start menu). Tabbing out and looking at event ghost it runs the macro "Start Program: XBMC.exe" then stops.

Never mind, I believe the issue was caused by me selecting "wait until application is terminated before proceeding".

please note that starting xbmc connects to the adapter. the same the eg plugin does.
if you want to control xbmc with the adapter and use eg, you must disable pulseeight adapter in xbmc and create a xbmc key press simulation within eg.
one device, one client. anything else could create issues.

I've had a persistent problem with libCEC events not being picked up by EG after I turn the TV off then on again. Is this a known issue?

Another thing, I quite like the way the config built in to XBMC works re: allowing me to place the computer into standby when I turn my TV off and the waking up on turning the TV back on. I'd like to set up similar fictionalise via EG but I don't know where to get started.
