Help with Plex automation with EventGhost

Post by tylordurton1 »

Hi Guys,

I'm after some specific help with EventGhost automation integrating with Plex via an OrtekVRC-1100 remote/receiver.

My setup is as follows:

Running latest version of Plex server and Plex HT on a dedicated HTPC [Asrock 330HT] connected to Sony 55" LED and a Sonos 5.1 sound system. I use a Logitek Harmony one remote to control everything and have configured the Harmony to talk with my remote control receiver as it's not a standard Microsoft version.

Everything works great, the only thing I wanted to achieve is to be able to launch Plex automatically from the Harmony if the HTPC is on the desktop view. This will remove the need to have my phone/tablet to hand [using Hippo Remote]. I managed to install EventGhost and successfully installed the auvisio plugin to talk to the Ortek IR receiver. Unfortunately it looks like the drivers required for eventghost/auvisio break the standard Plex remote control functionality!

Therefore I am able to set EventGhost to trigger an event via the Harmony button to launch Plex but then once in Plex I lose the ability to control the menu :-(

Have any of you guys got any suggestions that may help me overcome the above scenario?

Appreciate any ideas.

Kind Regards
Tylor

I think my XBMC2 plugin (included in EventGhost) can be used to control Plex. I haven't used Plex or gotten any feedback about it, but as Plex is based on XBMC I believe it could work.

Thanks for the suggestion, not sure if XMBC2 is not working or the problem just remains with the auvisio plugin.

I installed but still unable to use Plex due to the auvisio drivers (it seems), also get a connection error with XMBC2 saying unable to connect. I have typed in my main server ip address along with the plex port 32400 but no joy :-(
