XML merge or import

Post by Juris »

Hello all! First - Big Thank You toall makers and contributors of EG. I was user of good old Girder 3, and after trying some alternatives I feel most comfortable with EG right now. I had a minor problem when experimenting with configs ("trees"). I understand that i can "copy" something in one, then open another tree XML file, and "paste" there. Unfortunately, I was having EG crashes doing that, so I edited XML files manually, as text. May I suggest to make under "File" menu option(s) like "Open to merge", or "Import EG XML to current tree", or similar?
Thanks again, and best wishes!

Welcome on board!
I've never heard that there is a problem with copy / paste in EventGhost tree.
But it is always good practice to make a backup.
However, I see no advantage in creating a new menu item for this purpose (insert something into the configuration tree).
There is no reason to believe that it would eliminate the problems that you have.
The work that would be required would be pointless, because it would mean no improvement.
But that's just my opinion. It is possible that someone sees it differently. In this case he may of course to implement this new feature.
