Problem learning Pronto codes
Hello,
First of all I'm new to all of this ir code learning.
So I have a remote for my Sony Boombox ZS-BTG905
and would like to get pronto codes for all the buttons,
so that I can use them inside an application on my Android phone,
called "Anymote".
In that app you can add buttons by giving the pronto code for each button.
I have a mce remote + usb ir receiver.
This is what I tried for getting the pronto codes :
I'm Running Windows 7 Ultimate Edtition Service Pack 1
First I've installed the latest eventghost program (EventGhost 0.4.1.r1669) + also the AlternateMceIrInstaller_x64 (MceRemote_Vista.zip)
I connected the usb receiver,
started Eventghost,
added a plugin ( mce remote vista/ windows 7 ) ( I guess I have to choose this plugin, because my usb receiver is for a mce remote ? )
added a macro
then under mce remote vista/win7 I chose "Transmit IR"
Now I get a window where I can click "Learn IR code"
So Now for example I've pushed the power button on the remote,
I get a pronto code inside the window that I can copy.
I tried this pronto code inside the Anymote app, but it does nothing.
Also whenever I learn a code for the same button,
I get a different pronto code, very strange.
So what am I doing wrong ?
Do I have to choose another plugin ?
Or is it not possible to learn codes with this mce usb receiver (OVU4003/00)
Can anyone help me with this ?
Thanks in advance.
Greetings,
Soxbrother

Re: Problem learning Pronto codes
I think the code I get in the window is a pronto code,
but perhaps it's not a pronto code at all and that's why it doesn't work ?

Re: Problem learning Pronto codes
Hi,
The codes should be Pronto codes...
But anyway, if you set the "Learn Counter" to 1, you will usually get very poor results as the receiver catches a lot of interferences.
Try setting this value to at least 3, that the plugin can calculate a "better" code while learning.

Re: Problem learning Pronto codes
Thanks for the info, I will try it.
I'm not on my laptop right now, but I seem to remember a setting called "repeat" and that value said "0"
is that of any importance as well, maybe that value needs to be changed as well ?

Re: Problem learning Pronto codes
I've set the counter to "3"
This is what I get in the log :
first I get this
IR: 1/3 IR codes received successfully!
Then all I can get is this
IR ERROR: Length of the latest IR code is not equal to the length of the first IR code, please try again!
IR ERROR: Length of the latest IR code is not equal to the length of the first IR code, please try again!
IR ERROR: Length of the latest IR code is not equal to the length of the first IR code, please try again!

Re: Problem learning Pronto codes
An alternate way to get the codes is with the Newkinetix accessory on my iPhone.
I've learned the buttons and within iFile I can find the codes,
but they are in a strange format, this is what it looks like :
0,0,28,0,199,4,1,42,43,40,4,182,1,51,2,85,1,50,1,42,1,49,144,19,35,50,51,51,35,51,32
Can this be converted to pronto code ?

Re: Problem learning Pronto codes
You have to know that ir remote repeat the button you press as long as you hold it down, the plugin can not recognize that, so it will record the repeats thinking it's still a single button press.Soxbrother wrote:I've set the counter to "3"

Push the buttons as short as possible, then it will work.

Re: Problem learning Pronto codes
Ok, I've managed to get it working on my desktop pc,
it works from the first try. I guess some problem on my laptop.
So I've set the counter to 3 and that went perfect,
but the code isn't valid according to the anymote app.
So after that I set the learning counter to 20,
but it's still invalid according to the anymote app.
I'm not sure what else I can try.

Here is the code I get for Volume up, this with learning counter on 10 and learned with shortest press of button possible :
0000 0069 0000 0030 005F 0016 0018 0016 002F 0016 0018 0016 0018 0016 002F 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 002F 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 0017 002F 0017 0017 035B 005F 0016 0018 0016 002F 0016 0018 0016 0018 0016 002F 0016 0018 0016 0018 0016 0018 0016 0018 0016 0030 0016 0018 0016 0018 0016 0018 0016 002F 0016 0018 035B 005F 0016 0018 0016 002F 0016 0018 0016 0018 0016 002F 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 0017 0016 002F 0016 0018 0016 0018 0016 0018 0016 002F 0016 0018 0F4A

Re: Problem learning Pronto codes
The first and the last one look best.
I think it would be the best if you get in contact with the app creator, they should at least be able to tell you why the codes are not accepted.

Re: Problem learning Pronto codes
I've contacted the makers of the app and they provided me with a link to convert the code to an .amsr file,
which I could then import in the app.
The code I've created works !!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks everyone for helping me out !!!
