I came across EventGhost through a search for IRDA utilities. I found WinLIRC and then a reference to EG, which I have installed on a PC running Windows XP SP3. As the IRDA interface I am using the MS IRDA, which has been recognized by the system and through which I have been able to receive IR transmissions (from a JVC remote) using WinLIRC. That much appears to work.
The EG installer completed successfully, but the first and every successive invocation of the executable results in the following:
EventGost 0.4.1.r1669 window opens, and the log shows --->Welcome... as the first item, then
X Traceback (most recent call last) (1669):
X File "C:\Program Files\EventGhost\plugins\System\_init_.py", line 386, in StartHook...
X self.UnidleCallback,
X SystemError: WAIT_TIMEOUT for HookThread
There are other listings below these lines but the only other error is that no X10 receiver is found. The result of invocation is that execution halts and a Windows dialog appears announcing that "EventGhost Automation Tool has encountered a problem and needs to close." As this is XP and MS doesn't care I did not send the error report to WA but I did save a copy of the error report and can include the text in another message if it is useful.
The gist of the problem seems to be with Python's executable, but beyond that I am completely at sea. I have other machines running Win7 64 bit, but I have not tried installing on them as EG says it is installable on XP OS at the latest. Is this true?
Thanks for any assistance you can give. EG looks like a neat project and I would love to get it running on my PC.

EG on XP failure to execute
Re: EG on XP failure to execute
Can't help with the other stuff.
Maybe some parts of the website needs to be updated to reflect that it works fine in Windows 7 (and I think Win8 but have not tried it myself)

EventGhost works fine on my Win7 64bit system. But it kan depend on what hardware you want to use with it.clh333 wrote:I have other machines running Win7 64 bit, but I have not tried installing on them as EG says it is installable on XP OS at the latest. Is this true?
