Newbie question, sorry ;/

I am very new to EventGhost, but I'm trying my best to learn.

I currently have EventGhost set up to watch a folder, when a file hits that folder, it processes the file and moves it. All is well. I'm not sure what the correct term is for this current setup, is it called a string? Script? Event Tree? etc.. anyways.

My question is this. If I want to do more stuff, that is not associated with my current tree/script/string/whatever you call it, how exactly do I do this? Any simple example would help me get started I think. Just don't want to screw up what I currently have.

To try and clarify.

I have DirectoryWatcher watching the folder D:\Downloads and doing some stuff, which is all working.

However I want to also watch D:\Rips and do some other stuff. Just not sure how I can have both things going at once without them interfering.

welcome to EG.

What you want to do is simple enough. Just add the DirectoryWatcher plugin again like you did for the "D:\Downloads". EG will automatically at a "2" to the name to make it unique and make any events unique.

Some plugins allow you to have multiple instances like DirectoryWatcher, and some do not.

I think they will help explain the proper terms and icons you see within EG.

The folders are just to help organize macros. Another macro is what I think you are referring to in your question. The Macro will have an event that calls the macro, and it will have an action that will be executed. You can have as many macros and events within a macro as you want. Then the Macros can be placed in folders to help organize everything.

Thanks a bunch, I think I got what you are saying. I was probably a little confused as my first time using this I did an automated AMC setup which contained 4 macros and I was thinking those 4 macros were apart of a larger structure. But it seems that they work independently and are just in a folder for organization.
