Sorry, I am a newbie. Thus, I kindly ask for your understanding, if I am going to write questions that maybe have been raised and answered already many times (but I haven't found

I read a lot, used the search function within this and other forums, and 'googled' intensively ... and now I have the feeling that I am even more confused than at the beginning of my journey.I will get an Intel NUC 5i5RYH soon, which I am going to use as an HTPC at the living room. This NUC provides an inbuilt Nuvoton 'CIR' infrared receiver. I do have a Panasonic Viera TV TX-L42V20E with a remote control, model N2QAYB000504.
- a) Will the NUC inbuilt infrared receiver understand the infrared signals, which are send by the Panasonic TV remote control
b) Thus, is this Panasonic TV remote able to control the Intel NUC, especially to steer Kodi (fka XBMC), utilizing EventGhost
I already found that thread https://communities.intel.com/thread/56629, to use the 'Generic HID' EventGhost Plugin. Furthermore, I have a (little) basic understanding of making one or several selected events 'exclusive' to a certain application (e.g. Kodi).
Nonetheless, I haven't understood yet fully how to learn IR codes (simply because of missing practice) and how to map or assign them to Kodi makros, which seem to be offered within two Kodi-specific EventGhost plugins. Let's see an try.
Alternatively, I am going to buy another remote control like the logitech Harmony 650 for instance, because this has keys and a similar 'concept of operation' like the Panasonic TV remote control (and can replace it).
The Pulse Eight HDMI CEC USB adapter seems also to be a further alternative.
