I've been using EventGhost for a few years running XBMC/KODI off WinXP/Win7 using an HP iR receiver.
I'm building a new computer, which means this one can finally be a devoted HTPC. I also have a devoted HTPC in the living room that streams off this one, also using EventGhost and an HP iR receiver.
When I finish the new PC and put the parts from this into a new box, I was thinking of switching it and the HTPC in the living room to either Kodibuntu or OpenELEC because I've heard they run really well with little resources. Problem is, I don't want to buy any new hardware, I want to use my HP iR receivers still.
Is there a way to use EventGhost on either of these systems? or Ubuntu even?

If they are on same network and you have Windows machine could you use Win/EG/NetworkSender to send commands to the Elec/Kodi machines?

Re: EventGhost on OpenELEC or Kodibuntu
Couldn't be bothered... sat there yesterday trying to get stuff to work, finally figured it worked fine with Win7x64, so just installed Win7x64, antivirus, KODI v15 and EventGhost and works fine.
I've never really used Ubuntu before, Kodibuntu for some reason was fine on this PC but on the HTPC the fonts were super tiny, even when I clicked large fonts, so, couldn't navigate at all. Installed Ubuntu and used how-to's I found online but half didn't work etc... way too much work. I just want to sit and watch some movies.
