RFXCOM for xPL
Re: RFXCOM for xPL
Thanks for the interesting suggestion Bert.
If I understand correctly, by using those components in the way you suggest, the RFXcom would trigger the CMR-1001, which would cause the relais to open and cut off power to the router.
I am not sure what would happen next in this scenario: I guess the router switches off and communication between the components is interrupted. But this would not result in an 'OFF' command from the RFXcom, would it? As long as there is no off command, the power to the router would not be restored, or am I overlooking something?

Hi Walter,
In the RFXtrx-plugin I told you about an older RFXReceiver I bought and wanted to get to work (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3801&start=255#p27399)
Since editing the RFXtrx-plugin was not a feasible solution, I tried the xPLtrx-plugin as you suggested (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3801&start=255#p27399)
This plugin almost works perfect in combinaton with the xPL-components, but there's one thing I hope you could help me with.
My main goal is to monitor temperatures and create logs. The test setup includes a RFXSensor (1-wire) and a Home Easy switch.
When using the switch, the command is received and displayed in EventGhost. But when receiving a temperature nothing is showed in EventGhost.
- When I use the test program 'RFreceiver' the temperature is displayed: The sensor and receiver work.
- I have enabled the raw data mode, but nothing is displayed in Eventghost when receiving a temperature signal.
- I've tried all the versions of your plugin, now using the latest.
Is this something in the plugin? Or should I look in the xPL-configuration?
Thank you for your answer.

Re: RFXCOM for xPL
Dear Arjanm,
It might be that the plugin is not forwarding the RFXsensor message, I am not sure though.
The following things you could try/answer to help me trying to track if there is a problem with the plugin itself or something in the xPL.
- are you using the RFXcom with my older RFXcom_xPL plugin?
- are you using xPL Monkey now?
- try to use a standard xPL client and check if you really receive the RFXsensor messages from the xPL network (I use DCM)
- paste a typical entry of the sensor message how it looks like
BestR Walter

Re: RFXCOM for xPL
Thank you for your fast reply,
- Yes, I'm using your RFXcom_xPL plugin in combination with an 'old' version of the RFXReceiver (http://www.planete-domotique.com/media/ ... xcom_r.jpg). This 'old' version does not work with your newest RFX plugin.
- Yes, I installed xPLHub, xPLHal, xPLRFX and xPLDiag.
Today I'm not in the opportunity to test another client, I will test this tomorrow and follow up on this post!

If you have xPLHal installed, you can start the xPL Monitor in xPLHal Manager and verify that your events are appearing correctly on the xPL network

Re: RFXCOM for xPL
Hi Walter,
I did some testing with the following results (see screenshots):
- In DCM I cannot see any temperature signal from the RFXSensor (Screenshot 1)
- The xPL RFX Configuration looks correct (Screenshot 2)
- Using the RFreceiver utility, I can see temperature signals from the RFXSensor (Screenshot 3)
My guess is that something's wrong with the xPL RFX Configuration, since DCM is also not showing the temperatures.
Do you have a clue where I can check this?

Re: RFXCOM for xPL
Well, if the message is not available on the xPL network, I have no chance to present it in EG either. I have checked the code of the plugin and it looks fine, it should handle also RFXSensor events correctly. It should for sure be printed in the log if raw messages are enabled and if it is available.
The problem here is that is not published on the xPL network for some reason, I have no idea what could be wrong. As you say, it looks as you have enabled it correctly also in the xPLRFX configuration.
The complete communication path is:
Since you receive HE events in EG, the basic setting must be correct but for some currently unknown reason, the RFXSensors events are not.
Don't know if it is needed but did you reboot the RFXCOM after configuring it? Did you check afterwards also that the settings where correct?
BestR Walter

Re: RFXCOM for xPL
Problem solved!
Walter: Thank you for your help.
After searching xPL-forums I found the reason for this behaviour:
When having your xPL-setup configured and running, you need to reset the RFXSensor by pressing the internal button.
That causes an initialization message to be sent, which is needed by the xPL-setup.
If this message is not received, the device will be ignored. RFreceiver does not need this message, but xPL does.
After the reset the temperature was shown in DCM, and also visible in EventGhost by using your plugin.

Re: RFXCOM for xPL
Walter,
I need some help again.
The Rfxom xPL plugin spits out information messages from all xPL sources, but they are not received in Eventghost as Events.
I have had this working for a long time, but following my recent upgrade to latest version of Eventghost it appears now I only can receive information messages.
Have you got an idea for me how to solve this?
Thanks in advance,
Perry

Re: RFXCOM for xPL
Maybe I should add that I get information messages from various sources in the log, for instance from another laptop.
However, I want to get the events from the RFXCom Lan Transceiver (I believe you also have this device).
I do get information messages from it, including for the ones I need (e.g. information messages saying 'X10 device such and such motion - on"), but just no events in the log, whatsoever.
This means that the actions for which I have trigger events from the Transceiver set up don't work.
Also worth noting is that the information messages I get in the Eventghost log list the port number in them for all sources, except for the RFXCom Transceiver: here, the information messages do not include a port number, just the information from the X10 devices that is passed through.
Hope this explanation helps a bit more.
Regards,
Perry

Re: RFXCOM for xPL
Hi Perry, actually I also have the USB variants but not in operation any longer, I use the newer RFXtrx models and they are really good.
Could you paste some examples or a screen shot of those information messages and messages you are interested in? Also a screen shot of your plugin configuration.
1) Is the 'RFXCOM for xPL' included in the EG distro?
2) What version do you use (latest is frrom 29.08.2011)
Best regards, Walter

Re: RFXCOM for xPL
Walter,
Well, I got this solved by replacing the contents of the plugin folder of RFXCom_xPL with the contents of the back-up of the RFXCom_xPL folder that I had made prior to updating Eventghost to the latest version. Now I also get more than just two checkboxes in the configuration dialog box. You had put in additional checkbox options in your plugin in your post of 21 August 2011: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2077&start=15#p19201
I guess this means:

I guess this means:
Probably yes, since I was faced with another RFXCom_xPL plugin.1) Is the 'RFXCOM for xPL' included in the EG distro?
It appears that the EG distribution does not have the latest version2) What version do you use (latest is frrom 29.08.2011)
