HP IR Transceiver - won't transmit after resume

Hello,

I have a HP IR Transceiver which I use to receive commands from a Harmony remote and also to send IR signals to my TV and HIFI.

Everything works as expected, except that the transmit function does not work after the PC has resumed from sleep. The receive still functions - I can see the events in the eventghost log, but when eventghost executes a Transmit action nothing happens (the blasters don't light up).

The driver is the default one installed by windows 7, can't find anyone else having similar problems.

Anyone have any ideas as I don't really know what to try. I have to restart the PC to get the transmit working again..

Sounds like the USB connection is going to sleep and not waking up. Look at the properties in the Device Manager. In the Power Management tab, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". If that doesn't work, another thing to try is to edit your power plan advanced settings. Under USB Settings, disable "USB Selective Suspend Setting". These are just hunches. I don't know if they'll work for your particular problem or not.

Thanks for the response. Tried those but to no avail. First one was greyed out in device manager settings and the other did not work...

I also had this problem as well. it has something to do with ATI USB Drivers there is a specific name for them. I don't recall what it is exactly. you have to do a registry hack to remove them. or uninstall the USB hub in device manager and then scan for new hardware and it will work again. until it falls asleep.

Thats what it is. usb filter driver.

going to take some searching in the reg and permissions things but you can remove the keys to the USB filter drivers. reboot the computer and windows will install the generic ones and problem goes away.

this is from personal experience. might not be the exact problem you are having. but I had found that it will only affect certain usb ports. with me it was every port except the keyboard. and after 6 months of looking for a solution i decided to systematically go through the registry and remove one key at a time until i found the one that solved the problem. then searching the internet about usb filter drivers and usb port stops working after sleep. i found some results. so it's worth a shot and can't hurt anything to remove them as windows will rebuild the usb stack on reboot.
