I am sorry if this is a repeat of previous posts, but I have read a lot but not found a solution;
I have the latest EventGhost (v 0.4.1.r1706) and WIN7 Ultimate 64 bit (service pack1 ).
I first added the "Microsoft MCE Remote" plugin.
However, when I press a button on the remote there is no events in the Log window. The only button that shows an event is volume (e.g. System.Volume '86.00').
I have tried to start EventGhost as administrator, but it made no difference.
I next installed the "Microsoft MCE Remote - Vists/WIn7" plugin. and rebooted. This still didn't work (Admin or not). Furthermore, the service (AlternatateMceIrService) caused lots of computer issues, including no internet access. I couldn't even run Services.exe to stop the driver. However, I was able to run msconfig to disable the Service and rebooted (I couldn't even do a soft reboot at this point, and had to hit the PC reset button).
After reboot the PC worked fine again, but of course, still not EventGhost with the MCE remote.
Is there a solution? How can I get EventGhost to show the MCE Remote signals?

EDIT: I am now able to use the AlternatateMceIrService w/o computer issues. However, EvenGhost still does not log the MCE Remote signals. I also tried to disable HID Service in the "Microsoft MCE Remote" plugin. However, then the remorte didnt work at all (no EventGhost log on volume button, and Windows Media Center could no longer be controlled by the MCE Remote)

Could it be, that you are using the wrong plugin?
There are two MCE control plugins for EG, one is only working on windows XP.
You need this one: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6044

I think the best way would be to start all over at this point. Remove both services and MCE device in the details vice manager from your system, reboot, add only the MCE vista plugin to your configuration and install the service from the plugin menu. Reboot
