is there a way to control skype or hangouts using EG I am looking for answering and dialing

I believe Skype has an open API for their desktop UI, so theoretically you could control Skype via EventGhost. What are you looking to do, specifically? Just answer/dial? You might want to experiment with EventGhost's "Find a Window" action, as well as "Emulate Keystrokes" for a janky way of getting your answering and dialing to work. -- I don't know this for sure though.
I personally use a combination of Skype's hotkeys and AutoHotkey (though this can easily be re-done in EventGhost) to remap a simple context-relevant hotkey to a complex Skype hotkey. I believe the Skype hotkey I have for answering a call is CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+F6, while all I have to do is press LEFT ALT + Middle Mouse in order to answer or hang up, once a call is received. Dialing could likely be achieved via an input hotkey, followed by whichever number you're looking to dial, followed by the ENTER key. For example, LEFT CONTROL + NUMPAD 9 would initiate a call window, you would then type your number, and then then ENTER key, and your call would begin.
