Please Could we Have some Tutorials

Post by allalone747 »

Hi everybody, I been viewing the Event Ghost Forum for a while now, I read up in different Topics
General Support, Plugin Support, Bugs Reports, Feature Requests, and Coding Corner. I am intrigue with Event Ghost, and wanted to know more, there is a very good Tutorial on YouTube dated 5 years by InterLinkKnight The Heading is Event ghost Tutorial HOT TO CONFIGURE THIS AUTOMATION TOOL.Which i download and practice on occasion to get myself formula with eventghost functions.
My question was this Forum meant for only members who are programmers and scriptwriters ?, because there are no Tutorials for the plugins that been created, I got a lot of help from members on the forum which I am most grateful and all my respect to them all, if there were tutorials then maybe most of the question that are asked would not be so common.
I been printing out a whole lot of questions and answers, from the forum and realised that they are coming from members who write scripts( python) and who are programmers, not all of us can do these things, but if we got a how itÔÇÖs done then we will be able to do it.
An example I down loaded and print out 18 pages of questions and answers from the SCHEDULGHOST topic and it seems the question are from members who are well in advance with scripting, I try to understand whatÔÇÖs going on in the questions and answers but nothing make sense ,in other words I am not on the same wave length, not on the same level and never will be , I donÔÇÖt want to be known or be been as looking to be spoon fed ,but we novices do need a guide to work by, Please remember us, man .
SchedulGhost have 18 different macros, I would love to be able to configure it for my needs but, itÔÇÖs like a maze to me ,I donÔÇÖt know which way to start, the creator of the plugin had explain in the post that no manual was done because of other reasons, but from my reading others had use it and commended it , and it is now included in their own projects, why not give someone a sight on how it work.
A small video on YouTube could be so helpful, my apologies if I am out of line but I speak whatÔÇÖs bothering me, please we need some guide
Thank you :|

I basically agree with you. It seems however hard to motivate the majority of people to contribute. There are a lot of users downloading and benefiting from others work (me included) but a limited number of people are contributing with uploading.

I hear and see many times arguments like 'I do not know python' or 'I'm not a software programmer'. Right, I can understand this but there are a hell of a lot of other things everyone is capable of. Most users, including yourself, could at least contribute in writing user guides, at least partially. Unfortunately, it seems if users have received necessary direct support to fix their individual needs or problems, the interest in helping out with documentation is not there.

Maybe we should add a new section on the board named "Tutorials" and see if this will start to develop ?

Hello
Thank you for replying I do understand what you are saying about not contributing to the forum
I too download, so far I am not able to upload, believe it or not , I am a dummy with no knowledge of programming or script in Python which is not an excuse itÔÇÖs a fact, therefore I am doing a lot of reading on the forum. I cannot speak for other forum viewers, but it would be my gold to make some contribution to this forum.
If I have an idea, and can put it together I would love making a tutorial on it. Developers as yourself give plugins which we are very glad to receive, what I am seeing and reading are questions and answers This does not make a tutorial, There seems to be a lot of viewers on the forum who had made replies after lengthy posting, then confirm that they solve whatever problem and their projects are working, and thatÔÇÖs it. They do not show how they conclude.
This is where the tutorial comes in, it donÔÇÖt have to be only one tutorial on a particular subject. someone make one another make an easier method ,with different approach but with same result. It would be a pleasure to me if I had a problem solve to make a tutorial showing how itÔÇÖ been done, therefore as you mention the forum needs a section for tutorials.
I would also suggest that before any tutorial are posted it should be forward to the forumÔÇÖs administration for approval, because in my case not all of the input such as (Python script) would be my work.
I notice that my post had 37 viewers so far but only yourself had reply, is tutorial a problem.
Tutorials donÔÇÖt have to be written any more, as i mention before all have to be done is make a short video of your monitor screen showing it on YouTube, just add the link to your tutorial section, if i am wrong, then i stand to be corrected.
Thank you all
Cheers

EventGhost is an open source project, any contribution is welcome!
If you like to see a tutorial, create one! I'm sure a lot of people will thank you for it.
e.g. You could create a tutorial about the basic use; like installing and selecting plugins, creating macros and assigning events to them... You don't need any python skills to create such a tutorial, and if one starts with the first tutorial, others who liked it may follow.
If you like my work, Image me a drink

Hello Sem;colon
Thanks for your reply, it would be a pleasure to make making a Tutorial, presently i am trying to put a project together with the help from a knowledgeable member of this forum, once its complete, i will seek his permission for me to do a tutorial.
Because without his skill and help none of this project would have happen, What is really needed is tutorials on some of these plugins, just basic ones would help.
Thank you
