Same action codes for two keys in the remote via usb-uirt

Post by Sagarmokashi »

Hi there,
I am using universal remote control and usb-uirt device for handling a small application. When I use EventGhost to capture the event, I am getting same event codes for different buttons in my remote. Which means that, I am not able to map these events to the macros (We cannot map the same event code to two macros as this would affect the functionality of the remote buttons). For example, Up arrow and Down arrow in my remote is some times generating same event codes like USB_UIRT.Unknown.12345678

Is there any option to make Event Ghost differentiate these actions?

Also, the volume buttons in the remote are recognized properly but rest of the buttons in the remote are facing this issue.

Note: The remote control device cannot be changed/replaced.

With universal remotes, it is sometimes possible to select different profiles. If this is possible with your remote and if that would help is of course unknown but maybe you can try to investigate this.

Thanks for the suggestion. Have just verified and found that the Remote control we use is not having multiple profile. :(

My experience with USB uirt is that its not a good device to recieve signals with. It you want to recieve signals
you need the remote to be really close. But the sending part on USB uirt is really good. Please correct me if I am
worng someone!

If you want to recieve signals, I would go for something like this instead!

Some code types work better than others with the usb-uirt. I have found that NEC commands work the best over large distances, especially when using repeaters (blasters) or in a noisy ir environment. If you are using a universal remote try setting it up as to control a device which you do not ownand change devices until you see NEC in the usb-uirt action.
