I have just recieved the RFXtrx433E and started using your great plugin - and this sems to be better than Tellstick Duo in regards of support.

However, I have som problems with my chinese sensors. In Tellstick I can use a code for the brennenstuhl (code switch) that works fine but this is not directly supported by the RFXtrx.

BUT, I do seem to get the uncoded messages directly in eventghost. But they are in the form of a message like:

Undecoded: ['0b', '03', '01', '3f', '33', '7f', 'ff', '92', '75', 'ab', 'd7', '60'] arc

How can I use this log information as an event to trigger my macros?

Sounds good,

First of all, in RFXmngr, have you set the mode with the ARC box ticked? Currently the undecoded message is not an event as you have correctly noticed. It was meant to be used for debugging but it is easy to create an event in addition or instead

Yes - I have tried setting the undec on and ARC on as the only ones.

How can I change it to send the undec message as an event insted?

It is a doorbell and it ALWAYS sends the same two undec messages when pressed so using a message as an event would mean that the doorbell would besupported :D

Since this is a special case (and not the very best way to do it) you can try a personalized modification.

1) Open the __init__.py file for the RFXtrx plugin

2) Find line 1586

3) Modify the lines below like this

Code: Select all

        try:
            #print 'Undecoded: ', msg, subtypes[str(msg[2])]
            self.TriggerEvent(str(msg))
        except:
            eg.PrintError(self.text.decodeError + str(msg))
Save & restart EG

Very strange.

In the events in Eventghost I get the following (the bold number is counting it seems - thus the event is never the same):

RFXtrx.['08', '03', '01', '01', '1f', '1d', '07', '0b', 'a6']
RFXtrx.['08', '03', '01', '03', '1f', '1d', '07', '0b', 'a6']

In RFXtrx I always get the same "events" - see below:

UNDECODED ARC:1F1D070BA6
UNDECODED ARC:1B359AB260
UNDECODED ARC:1F1D070BA6
UNDECODED ARC:1B359AB260

Can the "counting" in the event/message in the RTX plugin be removed?

Honestly. This is not the proper way of doing it and the following code is just for your experiment and will not be included in future releases so you will have to modify future versions yourself. Why? The proper way is that the device should be supported by the RFXtrx itself and that will require a new firmware from RFXCOM (you could try to issue a question to them)

Anyway, lets look how we could filter out the information you can use as trigger for macros.

The event now looks like

RFXtrx.['08', '03', '01', '01', '1f', '1d', '07', '0b', 'a6']
RFXtrx.['08', '03', '01', '03', '1f', '1d', '07', '0b', 'a6']

We would actually skip the 4th element in the list (that is actually the message counter). So our target would be they should look like

RFXtrx.['08', '03', '01', '1f', '1d', '07', '0b', 'a6']

In code, the following will do that

Code: Select all

        try:
            #print 'Undecoded: ', msg, subtypes[str(msg[2])]
            del msg[3]
            self.TriggerEvent(str(msg))
        except:
            eg.PrintError(self.text.decodeError + str(msg))

This is absolutely perfect - now my doorbell works

I will save you code so that I can put it in when you update the plugin :D

Panic command to several KD101 at the same time?

Post by Henrik4223 »

I have set up a burglar alarm using 8 KD101 alarms. 4 of the alarms are connected as a group to each other so when one activates all 4 activate. The other 4 are not grouped (it is not very nice to be in the house if all alarms start when we have an "accident" in the kitchen  ).

However, when the burglary alarm starts I need them all to start. However, sending 5 panic commands (1 command for the group and one command for each of the remaining alarms) they seem to wait for each other meaning that one alarm will first start when the previous alarm has ended.

Anyway to change this to get them all to start alarming on the same time (without grouping them all together)- maybe I need to change a setting?

The internal behavior of KD 101 is something we cannot control. One thing you could do is to allow a wait between the commands the each sensor. I have two of those detectors and if I activate panic in each of them with a short delay in between it works, I can verify I hear the siren from both simultaneously. And mine are not grouped.

Also important is to check that your batteries in each detector are good (the 3x 1.5V batteries)

Im thinking of getting myself a RFXtrx433e, im thinking of replacing my old tellstick duo, do you think that the upgrade would give me more possibilities to program the RFX, instead of the duo? do i get more settings to work with in the RFX plugin compared to the duo plugin?

Depends what you are looking for but the main advantage with RFXtrx is its support for many more products. Besides it is much better in handling transmission of multiple commands and parallel receiving of sensor signals. It is also faster in the situation that you need to send out multiple commands to several devices. Let's say you have many lamps with different adresses that you would like to turn on at a certain time, then the RFXtrx is much faster in handling this.

But if you have specific needs, please just make a note here and I'm sure you will get an answer
