USB-UIRT and holding down a button on my IR remote

Post by PaulG »

Hi, I am new to using Event Ghost. I tried to find some info trolling the forum but I can't come up with an answer to what I need.

I have a macro that looks for an IR code from the USB-UIRT. When the macro is executed, it finds the application's window and sends a keystroke.

My problem comes in when I keep the button pressed down on my remote. I only see the USB-UIRT info once in the log window of Event Ghost, but I see the light on the USB-UIRT blinking away as I hold down the button. I tried using the autorepeat to no avail.

If anyone can give me some pointers it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

Auto Repeat should do the trick.

Does the EG icon stay red while you hold the button?

Nope, the EG icon in the tray flashes red but does not stay red while the button on the ir remote is pressed. The USB-UIRT does flash continuusly though.

Thanks for the reply,

And you only get one event per button press?

Yup, only one event per button press. The firmware on the USB-UIRT is V5.6 and I updated to the latest driver with no change.

Thanks,

Have you tried to enable "Pass short repeat codes as enduring events" in the plugin?

I tired the "legacy UIRT-2" option in the EG plugin and that made no difference. It did change the IR codes that were received by EG. I mapped the new code to my macro and it did the same as before.

Is there another setting about repeating that I am missing somewhere? I looked for settings in the USB-UIRT Windows driver, but there were none.

Thanks,
Paul

I am running 0.3.5c.908. Is that the latest Beta? If not, where can I download a beta version?

Thanks,

Found the info on finding the betas on the main page. I'll give that a whirl.

Just another happy user with this fix - thanks for confirming the new version was the solution since I was able to follow in your footsteps sucessfully. I just used the last full setup.exe file to reinstall, opened the USB UIRT plugin and checked the box for "Pass short repeat codes as enduring events" and all was well.

Thanks - I've managed to make this work with Beyond TV now emulating and Firefly Mini remote and I'm pretty happy with it. I can see the potential of EventGhost now and will come back to this. I think I haven't fully understood how to get the full functionality as I had to force on the exclusive mode for BTV but it does everything I was initially hoping for so I can chuck the unreliable (for me anyway) remote on the HVR-1600 card. No more issues with using standby and hibernate - yipee :D

If you switch to SageTV you'll get better software and have direct access control so no focus issues. :D
