Event Ghost + HD PVR + Usb Uirt

Post by texasex1998 »

I am trying to make the switch from IR Server Suite to Event Ghost. I have successfully input the IR commands into Event Ghost for Channel tuning, however I cannot figure out how to get the HD PVR to tell WMC to use Event Ghost. I tried changing the patch in the Hauppaugue Media Center software to the Event Ghost.exe file but that didn't work. Every post I have searched seems to either use the included blaster or the MCE remote plugin but not the USBUIRT. Does anyone have any helpful post you could please point me to that addresses my situation.

Thanks

i am not 100% sure of what you are trying to accomplish.

it sounds as tho yo are using windows media center as a PVR backend and you want it to blast codes to your cable box or sat box, but you want it to pass off the actual blasting to EventGhost??

yes that is correct. I have been successfully using MCE with IR Server suite as the software that passes the blasting. I have read that EventGhost is much better. I can get EG to send the blasts when I right clip on the USB Uirt command but I cannot figure out hot to tell MCE to use EG instead of IR Server suite now.

Yes that is what I am trying to do. I have been using IR Server Suite but it crashes and sometimes it does not send the channel change command. I have heard that EG is awesome and can do this. I have all the IR commands setup properly in EG, I just cannot figure out how to get EG to know to send the commands when it is time based on the scheduled recordings in MCE. Am I totally misunderstanding that this can be accomplished?

Eventghost needs to receive an "event" to trigger the "macro" containing the usb-uirt "actions".
I do not have the same setup so I'm not sure how to get your HD PVR OR WMC to trigger an "event" in eventghost. Once you figure out how to get an "event" in Eventghost, you just need to drag the event to you macro.

lemme take a look see if there is a plugin for windows media center and see if it triggers events on things performed in wmc, if it does you are good to go.

what are you using for a front end?? i don't know if you have tried mediaportal but it's kind of a pain to set up but it works great and doesn't rely on using media center as a backend (no support for wmc any more not even a guide) and there is an already made plugin for eventghost for it. and if it's a cable box you are trying to use you can get a cable card from your cable company free of charge and give them back their boxes and if you do that they have to pay you to rent your equipment so you can watch TV. LOL ain't that a hoot

get an HD HomeRunPrime they are like 60 beans and has 3 tuners in it and is network attached, and you can do a true multiroom DVR from a single storage point if ya want. that's what i have set up. just a suggestion because trying to find anything for wmc has become rather tiresome that's why i moved away from it. and mediaportal doesn't have all the crashing issues like Kodi.

but let me see if i can locate a plugin for ya

there is a post on that page referencing adding back some registry keys, into the registry, now this will add the ability to control WMC again from the remote but i am not sure if it will show events happening when wmc tries to blast something, if it does then you can have it use that to blast whatever you want. i will give it a try also, won't be for a couple of hours till i can test it, but you are more than willing to

are you using WMC as the GUI for your media control? or is it some other software? or is it built into the HD PVR?...
