It could be that your HDD sleeps when EG takes some time to respond.
You can try to disable in Windows power settings that you HDD is turned off after some time.

The intermittent transmit hangs happen to me too. Doubtful it has anything to do with drive spin up, though, as I saw this during IR transmit testing; so I was actively using the system at the time. I'm not running the latest EG or plug-in version, though--plan on doing that update soon.

And eventghost detects events normally.

Quick question:
Is it normal for EG to hijack all the commands i.e. after i install the service and restart the PC, i can still receive events in EG but my Mediaportal no longer responds to the keypresses.

Is there a simple way to just tap in the MCE remote and detect events but not hijack them?

Thanks!

Also how can i emulate keypress for the coloured teletext buttons ?
ANyone?
Is there an example xml file with settings for MCE remotes available?

Any idea why EG freezes sometimes while blasting an IR?

The XP version of MCE Remote plugin has an option to disable HID but it doesn't appear this plugin does. Could it be added?

I have the HP MCE remote and have customized it to do most things I need. However, we now have an Apple TV too and I would like to have the MCE remote control the TV volume (via IR repeater) rather than the PC volume. Otherwise, we need a third remote out (the MCE, the Apple TV remote and the TV remote). While this plugin allows me to override almost any button on the MCE remote (e..g., Visualization now minimizes WMC and opens Youtube 10ft UI in browser), assigning something to volume buttons executes new action but also still changes system volume. If I could disable HID, I could program MCE volume buttons to control PC normally and TV when I run the macro to change TV source to Apple TV.

Hello NateEaton,

could it be, that you applied the modification to control WMC in addition to EventGhost?
Because by default the plugin blocks all standard freatures of the MCE remote, incluting volumne control and WMC control.

self.learnDialog.GotCode(self.freqs,self.result)
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'GotCode'

It's Getting really annoying :x The only way to carry on is restart my PC.

[Edit:]
Please consider my post as obsolete. I found out that the Harmony will send different maybe random codes for the same key on each push.
So it won't be possible to achieve what I was looking for.
[/Edit]

Hey guys,

I'd like to ask for your help with something.
I am running a MCE receiver together with my Harmony Hub Remote. In the harmony I use the Microsoft MCE SE profile which has a lot more commands available than the normal mce profile. The problem is that the mce plugin in eg doesn't process all the commands sent by the remote. All the standard buttons like Play and Stop are translated into MceRemote.Mce.Stop but a lot of them just come in as MceRemote.Unknown.57FF9797EBFF7E5FF00.
I managed to create a script which triggers all commands present in the Harmony MCE SE profile a let eg log them. So I got a list of all commands and their respective event in eg. From which I would like to implement the currently not translated ones into the plugin.

Code: Select all

deleted
Over the years using eg I learned some stuff about python and managed to script a lot. I even customized some plugins slightly to my needs. But I had a look at this plugin and couldn't figure out how it does the translation from the incoming data into the events in eg.
Anyone around who could help me with this?

Thanks
Luca

Hello,

I've been using the famous Hewlett Packard MCE remote for years with eventghost, but tried the transmit feature only yesterday. The learn feature is working, but blasting won't work. The emitter/receiver red led lights up when I press the "test" button, but nothing. I tried with three devices with no success, while my harmony is working.

Do you have an idea for me to check that there is any IR code emited by the device? Maybe the IR cable is defective

depending on you phone if you turn the resolution all the way down on the camera on the phone you can see it in the preview of the camera. you will see the IR led blink. (easy way to test if the batteries are getting weak in a remote)

and those blasters that come with it have something like a cm range. so it has to be directly on top of the IR receiver eye on the device

I wanted to post a finding of mine. anyone ever experiences the problem of the USBCIR device for your ir receiver showing up in device manager as "unknown"

here is the solution

uninstall the "unknown drivers via device manager reboot the computer and as windows is loading keep on pressing a button on the remote it has something to do with the receiver going to sleep before windows fully loads so if you do that (i think ya only have to do it the once and since the drivers properly loaded they stay that way) the USBCIR driver does several device connects so make sure you do it long enough so that all of them get installed properly, if you hear the disconnect sound you will probably have to try again

this worked for me.

Thank you, that's the point. I don't understand why not blasting like a standard remote, you don't need power to blast cross a room.
