MCE Remote + Windows 10 : Double Action

As long Eventghost user, i need your help this time

First of all my configuration :
Windows 10
HP Infrared receiver
Eventghost last version
Harmony Remote as MCE Windows Remote
Kodi 15.1

Problem : Since my upgrade to Windows 10, all action are double.... As windows 10 automatically detect the MCE remote as a keyboard, when i move in one direction, KODI move twice !

If i "uninstall" mce keyboard in windows, all work perfectly but each reboot it come back. I have tried to play with alternate remote drivers, restart services , change dll, but no solution.

How can you do ? Thanks a lot !!!

I struggle with this from now and then. To be honest I don't have the exact solution in my mind right now but as far as I remember the solution was to disable the keyboard. Not to uninstall it.

All is ok now, i am not sure of the final solution because lot of test, but as i remenber, i had resintalled eventghost without uninstall it before, and it seem to resolve the problem ( perhaps the reinstallation of the emulator service )

The trick is to disable the windows service that's called "Eingabegerätedienst" in german
Note: this disables every multimedia key on your keyboard

Hi guys,

I just upgraded my htpc to win 10 and I have the problem with the double key presses now as well. And I remembered this thread...
I disabled the Eingabegerätedienst but keys like up/down/left/right will still be fired twice.
Against my advice from above it's not possible to disable the hid device within the keyboard section in the device manager. So only thing that helps is to uninstall Microsoft eHome-Fernsteuerungstasten device there. Which will be installed again after a reboot...
I also tried to uninstall and install the AlternateMceIrService from the mce plugin which didn't help either.

Any advice?

Are you Running EG as Administrator while doing the uninstall and install service thing?
Maybe try uninstall service, reboot, install service, reboot

Thanks Sem;colon for your idea. Tried it twice but unfortunately it doesn't work. The HID commands will still be processed by the os.

For anyone struggling with the same behavior: After a couple of times removing the hid device in the device manager and then rebooting it now seems to be working.

I have found a really weird way of fixing a lot of goofy MCE remote driver issues and you have to go into the device manager delete the drivers for the remote then reboot the computer and while the computer is booting keep on pressing one of the buttons on the remote while its pointed at the receiver

And also plugging the receiver into a non powered hub also helps and plugging into a plain Jane USB port a USB 2.0 without any additional features turned on un the bios

I have done a lot of reading on this and over the years as PC's have changed the remote technology went stagnent so it hasent been updated in probably 15 years

Big problem is the mfgs keep on using the default ehome driver and dont want to write their own and are happy with the limited functionality of the ehome driver

Hi all,

For last few days, i upgraded my windows 10 to 10240 build to last 1511, and again the problem appear, but here is the solution that work for me at the first try, as it was said before :

In devide manager, i had deleted ALL device with HID in the name, and reboot, simply as that, tada ! all is working now.

I'm not sure here I saw this but I do remember someone brining up the possibility that IR blasts may be bouncing off of reflective surfaces, so that the IR input receives the commands twice. I think something called debounce has to be changed in the registry. I can't remember how to do it though. Just something to look into.

yeah it's funny and i feel like a parrot repeating myself. and it looks like the craziest solution and it shouldn't do a thing. but in all honesty the deleting and reboot and reinstall of the drivers solves like 9 out of 10 funky MCE remote problems. I have also found another windows goof with it as well.

but this one will require using an app to take care of

this little utility works on vista/7/2010 and all the server flavors in between

what this does is shows all of the usb drivers that are installed.

now this is a nice little quirk of windows.

say you have 8 usb ports, and you plug a usb device into each of the ports one after another (the same device) windows is nice enough to install 8 drivers for it. and it doesn't remove them. i have worked on computers with 100's and 100's of drivers installed that weren't being used anymore. and but of course it all loads when windows boots, taking time to do it as well as ram to store it.

i have found that sometimes windows MCE remotes will have multiple drivers installed and have issues because of that. but this is just good house cleaning anyways.

what i do is i go and delete all of the devices from it, then unplug my mouse and keyboard and plug them back in (to get them working again. then systematically delete the hubs moving the mouse and keyboard until there is only one hub left with just the mouse and keyboard plugged in. then do a reboot and have windows rebuild the whole thing.

but this is also a good way to detect if a driver is corrupt because you will have erroneous data like the name won't be human readable, or the vendor information will not be complete. you will understand if you see it. and everything can always be reinstalled either when you reboot or by getting the drivers again.

if you ever have that one program that won't uninstall no matter what you do. shoot me a PM and i'll get a Microsoft utility over to ya to remove the program.
