I am trying to turn on my Yamaha stereo, and Mitsubishi TV when my system wakes.I have taught Jriver Media Center IR blasts using my existing equipment, and It executes them without any problems. The Mitsubishi TV has a really old remote app but the company doesn't even make the TV anymore so its pretty dated, and its only on for apple devices. I wouldn't know how to begin dissecting the program. The Yamaha does accept web commands but the video out is blown on it so turning it on, then triggering the TV to turn on through CEC control isn't an option at this point. I have a pulse eight CEC adapter sitting in the closet but I could not get it running correctly on my last few attempts. Maybe I can dig it out, and give it another few tries.kgschlosser wrote:the easiest way for me to help at this point is to know exactly what you are trying to accomplish,
from point A to point B
if the devices you are trying to control have any kind of a serial/network interface there is a really good chance there is something made for it. and if not i could get something together pretty quickly
i usually have a 2-3 day turn around for plugins depending on complexity.
i hate using IR for anything i can't stand it. only because it's not 100% but on the device where that is the only method, i attach to the USB port of the device (most have them nowadays) and i can at least get power notification from that to know if the device is on or off. but i make it a driving thing to make sure if i am purchasing some device and if i have plans to incorporate it into my home automation to make sure i can control it from means other than IR. and if i have to. i will open said device and push the codes directly into the component by soldering down inside the thing (no IR really, but the pulses are there) so no mistakes that way.
i have tried to no end to get my receiver working in windows 10, but apparently Microsoft has broken something because from what i have read in prereleases of windows 10 the USB redirect worked, and in the final version it doesn't and i am not the only one. i have another computer i will pull out and dust off and i can upgrade that bugger to windows 10. i gotta move some wiring to separate one of my monitors from my everyday comp. i usually do everything with all my computers via RDP so all my monitors are attached to one box.

Re: OS permission denied error
the yamaha if it has TCP communications is an easy one, i need to know more about the mitsu i need the model number and i am going to take a look see on the jriver.
if we can do something with the jriver and the TV there will be no need to use the blaster at all, only one hitch to this. computer that is running eventghost can't sleep otherwise button presses on the remote won't function
is the jriver and eventghost and the ir receiver all on the same computer??

Re: OS permission denied error
ok jriver has a web control so that's a plus, and there is an example i found for a command
so that shouldn't be a problem. actually that's gonna be really simple, and i know there is already a yamaha plugin available. so the last animal is the TV

Re: OS permission denied error
ok
if it's the wd-92840.
i have the service manual as well as the external controller API
i need to know if your TV has that external controller jack on the back.
and if so what kind of connector is it?
also wanted to know if you are willing to control the TV via serial? (you will have to connect the TV directly to your computer via a cable or you are going to have to get some form of a serial over IP adapter if you want to use a network to control it
and there is already a plugin made for the jriver it will allow control as well as post events into eventghost

Re: OS permission denied error
Whatever works, I can do. The TV will likely always have a computer somewhere close to it. For external control, the only thing I see on the back panel is the IR control Input. I don't see a serial jack but maybe there is one hidden in the case somewhere. Moving this tv around so I can open the case would not be an easy job, so I'd like to avoid that. I have no idea how your finding all of this, but thanks for all of your help.
Re: OS permission denied error
I forgot to add that I can see the IR transceiver flash when I execute the IR blast from within event ghost.jachin99 wrote:I used the test button, and I tried to execute the action in EGSem;colon wrote:Can you verify with a digital camera if the blaster even tries to send something?
Did you use the test button on the action to test the learned ir code?

Re: OS permission denied error
and you have checked the actual blaster??? the eye its self with a camera?? it could just be the code it's learning. let me go and get all of the pronto codes not a learned one
and copy and paste it in there and see if it just not learning right (i have had that happen with my samsung TV)

Re: OS permission denied error
there are only 3 wires needed for serial communications
receive, transmit, and a ground reference
so if it is a headphone jack we are good to go, you will have to make a cable

Re: OS permission denied error
How do I check they eye of the blaster? Just to be clear, I have the stereo and TV wired into the my IR transceiver, and the transceiver is plugged in via USB to the PC. Communications from the remote to the PC are accomplished via RF, which there is a separate dongle for. Both of my IR cable ends have two rings around them, so I am guessing all three pathways are in the cable.
