IFTTT connected to Samsung SmartTv

Post by lalo »

Hey guys, First post here.

I am just learning how to use EventGhost and I have hit a wall. I am trying to do what _omega has posted in this link https://m.reddit.com/r/ifttt/comments/2 ... arch_posts

I have installed both plugins (Samsung SmartTV plugin and PushBullet) but I am unsure what to do after this (or where they should be properly installed)

My overall goal is to have Amazon Echo control my Samsung SmartTV. From my understanding the commands will go through Amazon Echo>IFTTT>PushBullet>EventGhost>Samsung SmartTV

Any Help is greatly appreciated!

I see that no one responds, so I try to help a little.

1) Here (in the forum) are two topics dedicated Amazon Echo:
Controlling EG from Amazon Echo
Amazon Echo Skill EchoToEventGhost
I understand it only little, because I do not have Amazon Echo. But it seems that you can omit IFTTT and PushBullet from your chain
Amazon Echo>IFTTT>PushBullet>EventGhost>Samsung SmartTV.
It appears that it is possible to reduce it to Amazon Echo>EventGhost>Samsung SmartTV.

2) Maybe you insist on preservation chain Amazon Echo>IFTTT>PushBullet>EventGhost>Samsung SmartTV.
In that case, I need more information so that I can advise you. I suppose you have connected channels Amazon Echo and PushBullet. You have created a recipe Amazon Echo->PushBullet?

how old is your Samsung tv???

if it's a newer set. within the last 2 years or so Samsung has been kind enough to encrypt the remote control features of the TV and they only allow for control from their app (really dumb i think). I do not remember what model number they started doing this on. it's either F or H i can't remember.

i am not familiar with IFTTT but i have done some work on the Samsung plugin. it kinda stinks that they went and did something like this. there is kind of a solution. but it is unreliable for me to implement (support nightmare).
