Domoticz plugin
Re: Domoticz plugin
I think I may have a different solution which looks pretty easy. It appears that hbmqtt is pretty easy to install and run.
Assuming you have a separate Python installation:
pip install hbmqtt
hbmqtt

Re: Domoticz plugin
Having the correct dll's seem to be the biggest problem. I tried to make mosquitto broker run on Windows 10 but so far, no success (I really do not need it to run since I have all my brokers running under Linux, it is for curiosity)
Do you have a link where reliable libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll can be found? I do not see that they are installed by OpenSSL
EDIT: The problem might be related to what is discussed in the forum here: https://github.com/paralect/robomongo/issues/786. It seems those files should have been part of the OpenSSL installation. Anyway, I downloaded the dll's from the links provided in the discussion and now it works, mosquitto is running as a service under Windows 10

Yes, you found the same dll files as me. Sorry, I should have shared this for other users. Thanks for sharing.
Hopfully this will help others windows users.

Re: Domoticz plugin
I am feeling stupid. I can't get this plugin to connect. I am only interested in sending commands to Domocitz not listening in. I went to gethub and downloaded the latest version. I am running Domocitz on the same machine as eventghost. When I add the plugin I type in http://127.0.0.1:8080 for the host and it won't connect. I left username and password blank. I tried adding a unsername and password then putting that in but it still won't connect. I get Unable to connect KeyError('result') in the console. What am I missing with getting this setup?
Re: Domoticz plugin
The plugin tests using the json url in domotics. Can you attach the output of http://127.0.0.1:8080/json.htm?type=dev ... &used=true
One theory is that you don't have any used switches set up, it filters on all applicable devices.

I think you might be right...I haven't setup any switches. I plan to use this to control my Harmony Hub. Sounds like I need to setup some switches first.

Re: Domoticz plugin
This certainly looks like an interesting plugin if I can ever muster the courage to divorce my Vera or should she die - whichever comes first. lol. Thanks for the post OP!
Re: Domoticz plugin
There is some compatibility between them but it's not something I would recommend. https://www.domoticz.com/wiki/VERA
The Vera certainly looks good

yeah and that's about the only thing a Vera does that is good. you should take a gander at the forums... it's crazy. I have one also. and it just took a crap on me and all i did was login to the thing.. I am changing really soon. going to order the USB Z-wave tomorrow then bye bye Vera.. and Domoticz will be what I change to.
Re: Domoticz plugin
Domoticz is far from perfect but at least it's open source and you can run your own fork if needed. I've had some weird stuff with domoticz as well, the worst of which was when it connected all z-wave devices to each other. The result was that the motion sensors in the hallways of my house caused the curtains to open in the bedroom. Not too convenient when you're simply going for a pee at night.

How is the support end of things??? are they quick to respond and actually try to figure out what the issue is?. or do they try to pass the buck all the time?

Re: Domoticz plugin
i do have a question tho.... why the use of mqtt?? you can code a connector up in python for Domoticz and do a direct socket connection to a plugin made for EG.
