HI Guys
I have EG installed on a PC with all the drivers etc. The MCE remote works fine however once I 'train' the universal Philips remote it works once and then stops.
Steps:
1. Push a button that is trained
2. Push the same button again and it doesn't work
3. Push another button that is tained and this works
4. Push the first button again and it works again!....once!
I am running XP SP2 and all drivers appear to be installed. I can't recall if the EG green arrow turns red when the remote is pushed in step 2.
Ideas?
Thanks in advance.

MS MCE remote works but Philips learning remote doesn't?

Re: MS MCE remote works but Philips learning remote doesn't?
The MCE remotes use the so called RC-6 protocol. One feature of this protocol is, that it toggles the code on every press. Your learning remote has only captured one code and seems not to able to emulate the toggling. Ironically RC-6 was invented by Philips.
Do you use the alternative driver? It might be capable to receive other codes, that might work better with learning remotes.

Thanks for the instant reply! Alternative driver? I just installed this one http://burningzeroad.free.fr/MceIrApi.rar. If yuo could advise and I will try it and advise. Thought it might have been a rolling code issue. The guys that supplied it suggested this. Just don't know how to sort it.
Thanks heaps...and BTW this product is bloody fantastic.
Cheers

Yes, that's the alternative driver.

If your remote has a code table, you can try to use some other brand of device.

Thanks again. Not quite sure what you mean by use another brand. Problem is that the Philips works with all the other devices TV, stereo etc. Are you suggesting changing the remote and/or using a code table?

Use the code table to try out some other brands of device the remote should control. For example the codes for an VCR that you don't own.

Yes use the code table for some product you will never buy, then map those codes in EventGhost.
EventGhost really couldn't care less what the IR source is, you can use EventGhost to transcode RF>IR, IR>IR, http>IR whatever you dream up.

Re: MS MCE remote works but Philips learning remote doesn't?
OK Guys thanks. So I have another remote that I can do this with. With the MCE reciever the red light that indicates it's receiving something flashes when I push a button on the other remote. So questions are then;
1. If I use say the MCE receiver with another remote can I get this to work?
2. Where can I find the tables for other remotes? I have a Samsung TV remote. I saw the tables somewhere, have had a look on this site and been unable to find it again.
3. Are there any instructions on how to do this?
Thanks again guys. Know this is remedial stuff to you.
Cheers

Re: MS MCE remote works but Philips learning remote doesn't?
It makes no difference what codes the remote uses only:
The reciever recognizes the IR transmitted (Some DishNetwork box remotes.)
You don't have the piece of equipment the codes are for.
On your Phillips you may have a RC5 mode to control older Phillips devices, try that.
When you see events coming through in the left pane of EG you are basically done. Just drag the event from the left side to the macro you want ot to trigger on the right side.

Re: MS MCE remote works but Philips learning remote doesn't?
Might have misled or confused this a little...so sorry if i have.
The Philips remote is totally learning remote. It's a Philips Pronto http://www.consumer.philips.com/consume ... BCRU960-00
I have got the Pronto to learn the MCE commands however as you know we are having issues with RC6. What I have working without fail is the MCE remote along with the macros to do stuff.
Changing the Pronto is not an option! So what I understood from the comments so far is that we use the MCE receiver only and use another new remote completely and re:train the Philips Pronto. What I am struggling with at present is to get EG to accept signals from the new remote I have (which is a Samsung TV one). I have manged to get EG to learn the IR code under the 'add action' feature I just can't seem to get it to show up in the left hand side event log....PS I get the drag and drop left to right.
