I hope I haven't missed an answer to this. I had the most recent version of EventGhost running but couldn't get it to do what I wanted so I uninstalled. This left the remote for me Windows Media Center not working at all. I saw a very old post about reinstalling, unchecking the HID box in the remote plugin and then uninstalling. I tried this, with and without removing the plugin before uninstalling but the remote doesn't work at all (I have checked it elsewhere).
I see several registry entries left after uninstalling - not good practice. I also saw a message about installing Alternate-something as a replacement service but it was never there at any point in this struggle to get the remote working.
Any ideas? Needless to say my better half ain't too pleased.
Thanks in advance.

No remote even after uninstall
Re: No remote even after uninstall
- In the Windows device manager find your remote and uninstall the driver.
- if you have the option to remove the driver files, do it.
- if not: search for inf-files with that have the name of the remote in its contents and delete that (or move it somewhere else)
- unplug the remote
- install the originial driver shipped with the remote
- re-plug the remote
If that doesn't work, go again to the device manager:
- right click your remote
- select 'update driver'
- select 'search on computer'
- then seelect 'select from list of drivers on computer'
- select 'media' (load from disk)
- now search search for driver file that shipped with your remote
- your device should be now be listet. select it and install driver.
P.S.: My system isn't in english, so i don't know the exact lables of the above said.
