Hello,
I'm looking for alternatives consuming less resources, are there any? I run EG permanently in the tray using task plugin to track activation of media players to enable exclusive X10 remote plugin events sending keys to media players.

Well, there is always the commercial app, Promixis's Girder, which is pretty much on par as far as functionality goes with EG, though in my experience it is just as much of a resource hog as EG is - if not even more so.
For me atm. I'm running with 2% cpu usage and 900mb of my 4gb of ram used so I'm not stressing myself too much about it.. got resources for the lambs to eat for such a useful app like EG is.

I actually don't see any problem... As stated, it doesn't consume that much and I'm actually not aware of any other tool that is as powerfull yet light-weight enough as EventGhost.
I've been using Girder, but switched to EventGhost because it has a way more consistent structure, is more modular and plugins are easy to write.
Obviously, it depends on how many and which plugins you use on how 'consuming' EventGhost is. It can be stripped down or extended as much as you want...
